It was the first day of training camp. And Harrison made her laugh the entire ride there. Carrie never realized how excited NFL players were for the season to start. She didn't understand it until she met one, and married him. As Harrison said, "it was better than Christmas."
He was singing to Christmas music the entire ride to Bank of America Stadium. "It's the most wonderful time of the year! It's the hap-happiest season of all!"
Harrison had her cracking up. He turned the music up even louder and continued singing. As he kept going, Carrie couldn't help but unlock her phone and record some of this.
"It's the most wonderful time of the year! There'll be much celebrating and hearts will be glowing when footballs are near! It's the most wonderful time of the year!"
Carrie was laughing so hard, she was actually crying. He stopped his new Corvette at the red light, given her a chance to roll the window down and mouth to the people in the Jeep next to them, this is what I live with.
As the light turned green, he switched songs. This wasn't over yet?
"I want a Lombardi Trophy for Christmas! Only a Lombardi Trophy will do! Don't want a division or NFC championship! I want a Lombardi Trophy to hold and enjoy!"
The best thing about his encore was that all her laughter wasn't enough to distract him. He just kept singing.
"I want a Lombardi Trophy for Christmas! I don't think Roger Goodell will mind do you? He won't have to give it to anyone else! Just bring it to Carolina! It's the easiest thing to do!"
"I can see me now on Christmas morning creeping down the stairs! Oh what joy, what surprise when I open up my eyes to see a Lombardi Trophy sitting there!"
"Harrison..." Carrie couldn't even get anything else out as she was laughing to hard.
He was now laughing with her. The song ended and he switched from Bluetooth to the radio. "You do have to admit, that's pretty good."
"I recorded most of that."
"You better be ready for some more of that action when the season starts. I really get going then."
She couldn't help but laugh. "You are really something else."
"Hey, you love it."

The first day of training camp went really well. The players didn't actually do anything. It was more of a get to see everyone again day, and she got to talk to quite a few of the players. It was nice to get to talk to Cam, Greg, Thomas, and Christian for a few minutes after the long offseason.
Carrie was working on her first article of the 2018-2019 season when Harrison came into her office. He stopped behind her and read the draft.
The Carolina Panthers reported for the first day of training camp this afternoon. I got to speak with a few of the players, including Luke Kuechly, Greg Olsen, Cam Newton, and Jonathon Stewart.
I felt the excitement from the players for this upcoming season. Coming off an undefeated Super Bowl winning season, these guys are ready to go for a second title.
The nearing football season excitement was evident in my husband this morning. There's nothing to quote from him here, check it out below.

Underneath her last paragraph was the video she took of him on the way to the first training camp. Carrie published the article.
"You really posted that?"
"I did."
"And at the end, why is your maiden name still on here? You did get a better last name if I recall correctly," he teased with a smile.
Carrie spun around in her chair to look up at him. "ESPN and all these sports media companies know me by my maiden name."
"That needs to change."
"I'm known as Carrie Fisher by the media world. But if you can make that change, I'll be happy to switch it."
Harrison shook her hand. "Alright."
