"Can we watch film now?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because I said so."
Harrison sighed. "Why?"
"Because you said you wanted to watch this with me," she answered.
"But we just finished an episode."
"Can you stop complaining?"
As she was about to take another bite of ice cream, Harrison stole the spoon from her with the chocolate ice cream on it. "Hey!"
Harrison handed the spoon back. "Why don't you eat it in a cone?"
"Because I don't like a cone."
"How can you not like it in a cone?"
"How can I get you to stop talking?"
He kissed her cheek. "You can't."
Carrie leaned her head back against his chest and looked up at him. "I have a couple ideas."
"Oh yeah? And what are those?"
She picked her feet up onto the footrest and made herself comfortable against him. "It's starting."
Harrison playfully rolled his eyes as Carrie's third episode of Grey's Anatomy this evening began. "Why do you like this show so much?"
"Because I've been watching it since it started."
"Film is so much better."
"You don't have to sit here and watch this with me. You wanted to."
"I did. You're keeping me warm."
Charlotte was going through a cold stage in October, leaving Harrison and Carrie to cuddle up with blankets at night. It wasn't that he didn't mind. Sitting behind Carrie and having her lean against him under their pile of blankets was perfect.
Harrison reached around her and grabbed his wine. Carrie picked out a new red wine and insisted he try it. He hardly ever drank. The last time he remembered drinking other than the night he and Carrie took a bath together, was the Super Bowl parties. He never had a need or a want to drink. To Harrison, beer or wine was a threat to his body.
Carrie stole his wine glass and took a sip. "Really?"
"I bought this."
"And I'm drinking it."
She handed his glass of wine back. "Be that way."
Harrison set the glass back on the end table. With both hands free, he wrapped his arms around her. "When's this going to be over?"
"It just started."
"You know I have some studying to do."
"We leave in two days. You'll have plenty of time." Then she added. "You can go upstairs and watch your film. But I'm not moving so it looks like you're out of luck."
"Mhm," he whispered, pressing his lips against the side of her neck. "Then I'll just find other ways to make you move."
"Let's see."
With his arms wrapped around her, Harrison leaned to his side onto the couch taking her with him. Her back pressed against the couch and his chest pressed against hers. He took both her hands in his and laced his fingers with hers as they kissed.
Carrie's hands found themselves playing with his hair as he deepened the kiss. Abruptly, she placed both hands on his chest and pushed him upright.
"Didn't you have some studying to do?"
He tilted his head to the side and looked at her with one of his lopsided grins. "Studying? Who said studying?"
They kissed again. "Why can't I want tv in peace?"
I have a funny story for you guys. I was taking my friend home after we went to Sheetz and we were on the road I take to school everyday. People always speed on that road. When it's nice out like it was this afternoon I usually push 50 in a 45 zone. This lady was riding my butt. It was so close that I couldn't see her car lights in my mirror. I absolutely hate it when people do that. It's so uncomfortable for me as a driver because what if something jumps out of the woods? They won't have enough time to stop. This went on for a little while and I tried my best to ignore it.
My thing is, if she needed to go faster, she was more than welcome to go over the solid lines and pass me. After a while I had enough of it and I slowed down under the speed limit. The look on her face was priceless. She slammed her hands down on the steering wheel and I just laughed. When it came for me to turn, I made sure I took the turn really slowly. Then she flipped me off. And I just waved back.
