If you haven't already, check out my new schedule. This will help both me and you in all the confusion. Mostly me. My brain is just a jumble of things right now and my eyes are killing me. Not to mention I have to get up at like 6 in the morning to volunteer to pass out water to runners in a 5k. ON A SUNDAY! Then I get to go to ballet for 2 and a half hours. Yay.

(y/n)'s POV

I nervously picked at the sleeves of my sweater, wondering if it was a little to revealing for Dan's parents. No, wait. It's practically a turtleneck.

I'm freaking out.

Dan has reassured me a thousand and one times that they will love me, but I am not convinced. I'm a worrier like that. Dan grabbed my hand in his to get me to stop unraveling my knitted sweater and I nodded a thanks to him.

"Are you sure you are okay? Your hands are a little clammy." Dan asked. I nodded and he looked at me skeptically.

"You'll be absolutely fine. I promise." He said, giving my hand a reassuring squeeze.

He knocked and entered, as it was his parents home and I followed. A small dog went insane, barking and nipping at my pant legs.

"Aww, so cute!" I said. I bent down and smushed the dogs face in between my hands. He barked happily. Dan squatted down to play with the dog and a pair of footsteps came closer, loud against the tiled floor.

"Sup, Dan." A teenage voice called out in a sneering, but loveable tone.

"Hey Adrian." Dan said, standing up so he towered over Adrian. I stood as well, only to find that I wasn't even as tall as Adrian. He was a 5'9" 15 year old? How am I only 5'7"? Now realizing how far Dan towered over me, I couldn't help but feel a little small.

"And who's the babe? (I am sure Adrian doesn't talk or act like this I just  find it really funny. Sorry.) No way she came with you." Adrian joked, at least I hope he was joking.

"Shut up, yes she did come with me." Dan said, shoving him.

"Uh, actually I'm only in it for the dog." I said, scooping up the doggo in my arms. He licked my face and I laughed.

"I'm hurt. Actually hurt." Dan said, holding a hand to his chest in mock pain.

I grinned at him and turned to Adrian.

"Hi, I'm (y/n)." I said, putting the dog down. I help out my hand for him to shake and he took it.

"Nice to meet you, (y/n). Such a pretty name." Adrian said, grinning.

"Thanks?" I replied and Dan put his arm around me.

"You're welcome short stack" Adrian said, making him laugh.

"Oh, nice and hows the weather up there? Down here we are experiencing floods." I said, motioning to his pants. He was skinny, in need of small waisted pants and of course, these were a little too short.

"Nice banter, you'll fit in well here." Adrian said. Both Dan and I seemed to relax and we follow Adrian inside. I was greeted by a quilt of good home cooking, small conversations, and smiles that was Dan's family dinner.

"Hey dad" Dan said, hugging his father who had stood to greet us.

"Hello Mr. Howell." I greeted and he looked over at me.

"Ah, you must be the girl Dan raves about to my wife, nice to meet you." he said. I took his outstretched hand and shook it.

"Nice grip, firm handshake, nice to see a person who can assert themselves." Mr. Howell said smiling. My face turned crimson and Dan led me over to his mother who was currently stirring something over the stove.

"Hi mum." Dan said.

"Oh hello Daniel, nice to see you made it safely, do you mind getting me the milk?" She said, gesturing towards the fridge.

"Oh, I'll get it Dan" I offered, considering I was closer. I headed to the fridge getting the milk and handing it to her.

"Thank you Daniel." she thanked.

"Uh mum, actually that was (y/n)." Dan said, smiling at me.

"Oh, yes. So very nice to meet the girl who makes my son so happy." She said, turning around to hug me. My face turned an even deeper shade of red and Dan's cheeks dusted over with pink.

"Thank you Mrs. Howell." I said.

"Is there anything I can help you with?" I asked.

"Oh, yes actually. Do you mind preparing the salad? Everything is on that counter." She said, motioning to a counter by her side. I went to work leaving Dan to join Adrian and his dad at the table.

"Thank you dear."

"It's no problem." I said and she smiled at me.

"You know I can tell, he really loves you. I haven't seen him this happy since he was a child." She said. Her face crinkled slightly, but you can see that she aged rather well. Her presence was warm and friendly. I just felt really safe around her, like I do with Dan.

"I know," I said. I looked back at him, his eyes sparkling with laughter at something Adrian said. He looked over and we locked eyes. I smiled gently and he smiled back too. I turned to his mum, who had been watching us and said,

"I really love him too."

I was literally dying the entire time I wrote this. It is too cute. Augh!

Sorry it was a little short, but I couldn't fit EVERYTHING in one chapter so I am splitting it up in to 2 possibly 3, probably not.

BUT ANYWAY!

Hope you enjoyed, and stay awesome!
