Her knee bounced up and down underneath her black and white chevron maxi skirt. She hadn't been to church in years. She was pretty sure not even Luke had been to church in years. So, why was it that he had dragged her here? When the preacher finally started mass, her knee started bouncing faster, until she felt a large, warm hand. "Lucas!" The preacher exclaimed, and Luke turned away from Blaze.
"Father Hill! The sermon was great today." He says, and the old man beams at him.
"Thank you. I was so surprised to see you here, and I see you brought a friend." He said, peeking around Luke to see the short girl.
"Hi, I'm Blaze. It's nice to meet you. The sermon was excellent." She complimented, and he smiled kindly at her.
"Thank you. It was so nice to have you here."
"Thank you for having me." She said, and Luke grabbed her hand.
"We'd better get going. I'll see you next week." He said, pulling Blaze out of the almost empty room.
"I can't believe you convinced me to do that." She shook her head, giggling.
That was the first time Luke Hemmings ever got her to church.
