You sighed, watching the remaining of the burns fade away on your hand. At the moment, you were in deep in thought.
" So there are more demons in this town," you muttered to yourself. " Just when I thought things could get worse," you stared at the sky that had completely turned dark, the moon slowly came into view. " One demon was enough for me to acknowledge," you rolled up the sleeves of your dress to look at the scars Thomas gave you. You weakly laughed, " Then again, being an angel can't always be sweet and savory, sometimes, you gotta have some bitter and sour moments."
You winced in pain, your head was having these sharp pains and the flashes returned, your vision blurred. You had to stumble and tried your best to lean on something. Thankfully, being in the woods, you were easily able to find something to rest on. You leaned against the tree, taking a deep breath.
" It's alright, (Y/n)," you massaged your temples with your left hand to soothe yourself. Involuntarily, you gripped the tree's bark as the pain in your head returned with a sudden burst. " God this hurts," you hissed, trying to stand up straight. The pain was driving you crazy. What was going on? " Okay, now is not the time to delay everyone. I need to meet up with the others."
" I swear I thought I sensed someone here," you heard the male demon say, which was most likely James.
" You always think that, James."
" You don't know that, Maria!"
" I'm your wife, James. I do know that."
As the demons conversed, not wanting to get into a bloodbath you decided to sneak away, then run from them. At the moment, you didn't know where to go with your blurry vision. You mainly aimed where there was an opening so you didn't slam into a tree or bush. Heck, you didn't even fly not risking being spotted or crash landing because of that. You simply ran. So, about you running. You fucked up. They followed you, and you didn't know.
After minutes, you stopped once you thought you had lost them. You blinked, trying to get rid of your blurry vision. It didn't work at all, everything was still blurry.
" Oh come on!" you groaned, rubbing your eyes with frustration, persistent that your vision cleared. Still, blurry as ever. When you were about to continue to run, you were slammed onto the ground, taking the wind out of you.
" I knew it! I told you!" James exclaimed with pride.
Maria rolled her eyes, coming into your blurry view. She knelt down in front of you, " Aren't you that girl I grabbed in the town square? That explains why I had a strange feeling about you," she observed your face. " Never thought a plain person like you would be an angel. You don't look like you have the poise for such a role."
You snapped, trying to fight for freedom as James held you down by the neck like an animal. " You take that back, you fiend!"
Maria seemed taken back by this, but simply giggled, " I was just being honest, dearie. After all, I thought you perfectionists loved hearing the truth since the truth is like music to your ears. But I suppose I was wrong about that. It appears that my theory was incorrect."
You glared at the blurry Maria with scorn and hate, thanks to her being so close to your face, you were almost able to headbutt her.
She jolted up, " Feisty I see," she remarked. She paced around you and James that watched her as she appeared she be debating. " Since you're not easily defeating my husband, you must be an angel in training, a very weak for one."
From that, you were silent. Tears without warning developed into your eyes.
Maria chuckled, " Seemed like I hit a weak spot. Tell me, dearie, how does it feel that as your comrades prosper you fail?" From your messed up vision, you could see her smirk. " I wonder if they're cruel to you," she pondered.
