" Why would you need my help?" Thomas snarled.

James sarcastically gave an offended look, eyes still looking dull and emotionless. " Well, pardon me. I thought you would at least loved to see your mate."

Thomas didn't appear to be interested. " Just get to the damn point."

There was a surprise expression on James, " I expected you to react desperately by me mentioning her-"

" Don't," Thomas snapped. " The point. Tell me your reason for my help then go." He went back to his piano to play it.

" So you can go mope around and not kill me? I would say that is a reasonable threat but there is a twist to my reason," he told Thomas. " Remember when I said 'we'? Well, how shall I put this?" he questioned. " I may have mentioned this but not clearly. I dragged (Y/n) into the investigation to find the missing In-Trainings," James started to explain, making Thomas put a sudden loud halt to his playing when he heard you were involved. " I discovered that two men were souls owned by a demon in Hell. This could give us a lead to find the kidnapper of the In-Trainings and find him, and we can only do this if you can help us find the owner of those two souls."

Thomas gritted his teeth, fingers pressing harshly on the piano keys, making a disharmonious tune that was ear piercing. "Like a demon, I expect that there is something for me to gain if I help you. I'm a charitable white-winged angel anymore."

" Thomas, these are missing In-Trainings we are talking about. They could die if we don't save them in time, and the kidnapper could target (Y/n) next," James tried to reason with the demon.

" Do you think I do not know that?" Thomas retorted sharply. " I literally fear for her life while I'm away from her, and now you're making it worse by dragging her into your mess. I thought you wanted to keep her away from danger, but all you have been doing is forcing her into more of it. What is more valuable to you James? A single person's life or multiple people?" Thomas stood, hand balled into a fist. " What lengths will you take to save these many angels? First, you're resorting to a demon's assistance. What will be next? Sacrificing my (Y/n)'s life for the sake of those angels?" Thomas faced James with a fiery glint in his eyes.

James kept his cool. " You know that I know how much you care for and love (Y/n). Sacrificing her life for the sake the In-Training would kill you (and me). Why do you think I haven't told all of Heaven of your unholy affair? A normal angel would tell in a heartbeat, like Hamilton for example. I support your relationship with (Y/n)." He continued on, " The reason why I'm asking for you is that I trust you and you're the only non-lethal demon."

" Thank you?" Thomas wasn't entirely believing what James was saying but sounded grateful. " I could help you, but I can't see (Y/n)."

" You're allowed to see her, you know. She's going to work with us."

Thomas shifted his weight awkwardly. " That will be complicated."

" Why?"

" I told her I didn't want to see her anymore."

James would open have his mouth in shock but he instead gave Thomas a judgmental very look. He shook his head with disappointment. " I am now tempted to punch you out of the window, but I won't," he confessed. " Thomas, why did you tell her that?"

Thomas was intimidated by the expression James was giving off. " She didn't want to leave, asking me questions. Everything you said was stuck in my head, and I didn't want to put her in any more danger."

James gave a loud groan of annoyance, " Thomas, (Y/n) has the tendency to overthink and analyze certain topics. You can probably thank and blame the people that in a way raised her for that." He then guessed, " You made it sound like that you used her for your entertainment, didn't you?" There was a nod from Thomas. " Knew it, that explains why (Y/n) didn't instantly leave at night when she had the chance." James exhaled, " You can either apologize to her or work with her while she is furious at you. But from what I can take from (Y/n)'s personality and how she 'grew up' she might not easily forgive you."
