You stirred in your sleep, awakening to the alluring scent that roamed around you. It was pleasant, followed by the comforting heat that blanketed you from the bitter cold that managed to sneak its way into your room. You relaxed, letting out a soft exhale to embrace the comforting ambiance.
Shifting the side you were sleeping on, you weren't able to. You felt arms snaked around your waist, making your eyes open. Upon opening your eyes, you discovered that you were enveloped within darkness. Your forehead was against something.
" Uhh," you were face to face with Thomas' chest.
Looking around with the best you could, you noticed that his night feathered wings were covering you, shielding you from the bright light and keeping in the toasty temperature. It was nice that you weren't being burned to a crisp by Thomas' involuntary ability to create heat. Maybe when he was asleep or very relaxed it lowers a bit.
You tried to move away from Thomas, but he had a strong grip in his sleep. After ten whole minutes of fighting for your freedom, you decided to give up.
" Well, he certainly has no intentions letting me go. Might as well embrace it," you sighed, closing your eyes.
Thomas yawned as he woke up, the bright winter light hitting his eyes. He was about to get up, until he realize where he was. He had almost forgotten that he went into your room to calm you down during one of your nightmares.
He now laid on his back with your head resting on his chest, arms now wrapped around him. You appeared to be at peace, your breathing was slow and steady. Thomas smiled, leaving you be. He nuzzled your forehead gently, causing a small smile from you. His eyes widened slightly from the unexpected reaction.
Without any warning, he felt something touch his hand. Thomas moved his eyes to the sensation. Your hand was on top of his while his hand rested on your stomach. He stared at his hand as it rested on your belly. He closed his eyes for a moment, then opened them as he removed his hand from your belly. Thomas exhaled, savoring the sweet moment. This wasn't going to happen not even if a century passed.
Your soothed expression brought joy to him to know that you were safe. Thomas carefully got out of the bed, making sure he didn't wake you up. He noticed the book you bought with you on the nightstand.
" Souls of Every kind?" he murmured, grabbing the book. " Doubt it could be useful, but hey, it's worth a try." He quietly exited the room to continue to research.
The fox that was resting on the floor followed Thomas. They yipped at him, pawing it his pants.
" Oh, morning, little one," he greeted, petting the fox as he took a seat. " Shouldn't you be with (Y/n) to keep her company?" The fox tilted their head, barking. They rubbed their head on Thomas' knee and pranced towards your room. " I honestly don't know how (Y/n) can understand that fox," he commented, opening your book.
You stretched your arms slowly getting up from the bed, sitting up. The room was still warm because of Thomas. It was hard to keep your face from flushing with red with the simple thought of him cuddling you. To distract your body from doing that, you groomed your wings. They were still clean, but it didn't stop you from picking out any small dust particles from your pure white feathers.
" I wonder what he's doing so far?" you wondered.
The fox jumped on your bed, greeting you with their fiery fur. " Morning, boy!" you laughed as they licked your cheek, then nuzzled your wings. " How did you sleep?" you inquired, petting the fox as they rolled on the bed. It hopped out of the bed, beckoning you to follow. " Okay, okay I'm coming. Do you need to be fed or something?" You turn to grab your book that Alex gave you, but it wasn't there. " I swore I brought it with me, " you remembered.
