Mai's POV
A.L, Fumi and I were at the village main entrance waiting on the genin team that had yet to arrive. Oh and because I was suppose to be a noble representative, I was wearing this hot and sweaty red outfit with my hair up in a elegant ponytail. I had my tesson with me but it did very little against this heat. For the morning time, it was hot and humid. These punks better hurry up or I swear, I'm gonna- "Sorry we were late! This idiot had to stop to make sure the birds got through the morning traffic unharmed." I heard a brown haired boy yell out while pointing at a shorter black haired boy. "I-I'm not an idiot." The black haired stuttered quietly. "Guys, you're both idiots." A sandy brownish-blonde haired girl said to both of them. Huh, I don't like the two loud ones. They're too loud. "I'M NOT A IDIOT!!" The brunette yelled. "Uh huh." The girl replied. "Hey instead of acting like bratty children why don't you introduce yourselves so we can get out of here!" I said peeved that they were ignoring us. "Pfft, what crawled up your a-" The girl was interrupted mid sentence. I had thrown a feather shaped kunai at her and scratched her right cheek. Before she could recollect herself I was behind her with another kunai at her throat. "We have been waiting for you three for almost an hour. It is hot, I am wearing a long sleeve dress that has many layers. Do not cross me little girl." I said out loud in a steely tone of voice. I leant in towards her ear, "Or I will make this entire experience miserable for you." I whispered. Their sensei had drawn his own kunai thinking I would seriously injure the genin, Pfft as if, but Fumi had disarmed him. The other two genin were confused and had obvious looks of fear on their face. Whether it was for their teammate or themselves I didn't know. I removed my kunai and walked in front of the bratty girl. "Now. Introduce. Yourselves." I demanded. "I-I'm Cho." The girl said quietly. "Kiji" The brown haired boy stated. "I-Isao" The last one said quietly. "Good, now that that's over. I'm Shiroi Suna no Fumi. This is my wife, Mai. Now Mai, why did you attack the genin?" Fumi asked me as he walked over to me. "They're annoying and the short one had the balls to mouth off to me. What else would I do?" I replied smiling brightly at him. The girl was indeed the shortest of them, the black haired boy being the tallest. The girl, Cho, had long sand colored hair with darker and lighter undertones. Her eyes where a deep stormy violet color, very pretty but also a bit intimidating. She was slightly chubby but not enough so that she would suffer bullying like so many others did. The brown haired boy, Kiji, had wild brown curly hair. Not like afro curly, but loose curls. His eyes were a dusty rose color. It wasn't like he had pink eye, they were actually colored pink. He had markings on his cheek under his left eye. Three stripes under his eye, growing smaller from top to bottom stripe. He was the middle kid, height wise. The last boy, Isao, was tall and lanky. He had slightly longer, shaggy black hair that hid his eyes. He was quieter than the other two, and overall screamed 'LOVE-ME-PLEASE'. He was adorable and by far my favorite. They all had similar pale skin tones, but they where all different tones at the same time.
A.L, who had learned a jutsu or two in the seven years that Fumi trained us, had used a jutsu to shrink in size so he could ride on my shoulder like he used to do before he started growing. He walked out from my hair, "Sup, you can call me A.L. and words from the wise, Don't piss her off. She isn't a ninja but she can still fuck your shit up." He grumbled out. The genin looked at him oddly but walked off to their sensei. "Well that went well. Don't you think hun?" I smiled while turning to Fumi who was walking beside me. We refused siting in those weird things that others carry while you sit inside. Fumi looked at me with beads of sweat rolling down his face. "Uh, yeah. Well. . . " He trailed off. I only laughed and held A.L in my arms. "So do you recognize the sensei?" I questioned so we didn't have to walk in silence. I noticed said sensei twitch a little when I asked about him. "Well, I'm not familiar with him. He's a jounin sensei. From what I can sense right now, he has a slightly larger than average chakra reserves. Don't you feel it?" I blinked and focused on the man. And it was true. Lately Fumi had wondered if I possibly was a sensory type ninja. So he experimented and he found while I wasn't the best, I could still sense others chakras. I was a little below average in that area. "Mmhmm." I hummed in response to Fumi. Despite my efforts to not walk in silence, it fell silent as we walked down the road. I focused on the man's chakra again. I never thought I would be able to perform ninja actions such as sensory, ninjutsu or even the taijutsu style Fumi taught me. It was similar to martial arts in some sense so I picked up taijutsu surprisingly easy. I wasn't the best but I could hold my own in a fight with Fumi. Fumi had said he was an average shinobi so I suppose I was average in taijutsu. When Fumi had moved on to genjutsu, well, I wasn't so adept. I could break out easily enough but I found I couldn't cast a very good genjutsu at all. Ninjutsu was probably one of my better areas. I picked up the few jutsus Fumi was able to teach me from the scrolls he had. I had a lightning chakra nature and knew only a handful of lightening style jutsus, on top of the transformation, clone and substitution jutsus. Which Fumi had taught me before any other jutsu, though I learned the transformation jutsu from, Rasa. I also had worked on my chakra control, which Fumi had also said was average as well. But what I found really cool was the fact that I could walk up trees and on water. Fumi had said that it wasn't a big deal but I felt like Jesus out there walking on the water! But with using my chakra for the jutsus in the scrolls we found that my chakra supply wasn't big enough because the jutsus I learned used far more chakra than we originally thought. So with help from A.L I grew my reserves a bit larger than most. Not super big, just a little more than average. Also, because he is paranoid, Fumi also taught me to fight with a pair of tesson. Which I was actually eager to learn because, well just because. The tesson was pretty and it suited me. It wasn't a regular blade nor was it a type of sword. We had initially tried knuckle blades and regular knuckle dusters, but it hurt my hands and I had broken my pinky. Then an old lady gave us a pair of tesson out of nowhere and then bing badda boom. I'm a bad ass. Well, an average bad ass. But a bad ass none the less. The other areas such as speed, strength, agility, intelligence etc. I was slightly lacking in but that was ok for now. For seven years of training I went from emotional mess to a decent ninja, not that I was an official ninja. I could hold my own though if need be. I didn't want to be a ninja either. It seemed stressful. I was perfectly happy with my job as a merchant/noble.
A couple of hours later I was drawn from my thoughts by a noise. Our little group stopped as we had reached the border and needed to get through the checkpoint. Walking towards the booth, we made it through and started back on our merry way. "M-miss you're the lady that works in the shop on the dock right?" I heard Isao ask me. I jumped slightly as the boy appeared to come from nowhere. "Oh my god! Kid, don't scare me like that!" I yelped. "I-I I'm s-sorry." He apologized pulling his hands up under his hair and covering his eyes. I stopped dead in my tracks and just stared at the adorable boy. My eye started twitching as the others stopped walking a they realized we weren't following. "Uhh, what are you doing Lady?" I heard Kiji ask. "Lady Mai?" The sensei asked following after his student. I slowly walked closer to the boy and grabbed him. I pulled him in and hugged his head. Probably suffocating him but I could care less. " This one Fumi. I'm keeping him! And there isn't nothing any of you can do about it!" I yelled out. "What!! You can't keep him!! HE"S OUR TEAMMATE!!" Kiji yelled out while pointing a finger at me. I could feel Isao panicking and trying to get away but I was not letting go of him. I stuck my tongue out at the loud boy and ran off as he charged at me trying to get his teammate. We played a game of tag as the others had started walking once again.
3rd POV
"Are my students going to be okay with her?" the sensei asked Fumi. "Oh believe me, as much as it may seem like she doesn't like the children, she would never let anything happen to them. I would say there was nowhere safer for them to be than with her." Fumi said smiling, but his smile faltered when he remembered the last child Mai had sworn to protect. "Yeah, they'll be safe. She would die first before they got hurt." He finished as they watched her run farther and farther ahead with the black haired boy still in her arms with the brunette hot on her tail. A.L crawled on top of the sensei's head, causing him to flinch. "Don't worry my dude. Mai will watch them." The lizard reassured.
