4. What happened to him?

It's the next morning. Nikki and Sonakshi have decided to gift him a video game as he looked very much stressed these days.

"But Sona Di I have only this much money," Nikki says pointing at the pocket money Dev had given her. "No worries you can make money from me for now" Sona replies happily. "Yes... And when I'll get another pocket money I'll return to you" Nikki says excitedly. Sona smiles.

"Sir your coffee" a peon enters his cabin, enough to pull him out of the chain of thoughts. He leaves the cabin after asking if anything more Dev wants. "Riya did well today," He thought leaning on his chair. An unknown smile he felt on his face. "My little princess can manage everything even without me..." He was happy. "Nikki will also handle everything I know. And Neha!! She's going to settle down whom she loves to the core." a lone tear passes as he closes his eyes to see his childhood memories. How he used to play with his sisters and how Neha was always irked on him... He used to feed them ice-creams and hence he became their best bhai. "What about Maa?" He gets up with a jerk. "She can't.... She can't even imagine me away from her!!" this thought made him a bit restless. "Sir... Your next meeting is scheduled after 15 minutes." Tina says entering his cabin. "Send Riya to me" He orders and she leaves.

"Di this video game is the best. Although it's so expensive...." Nikki says pointing at a video game. "Don't worry I said you can make money from me for now" Sona says. "I love you Di" she chirps happily hugging Sona. Sona asks the shopkeeper to pack that video game.

Someone knocks on his cabin's door. "Come in" He orders. "Sir your medicines" the man declares and Dev finally looks at him ignoring his files. "Dr. Singh has sent these," says the man. "This you have to take after your meals.... This one whenever you feel headache...." The man starts explaining meanwhile Riya enters all suddenly. Dev looks at her, numb. She looks at the man and then at Dev who had slipped something inside the drawer. "Ah... Riya... You should knock right." Dev stammers a bit. "Sorry, bhai... I mean... Sorry sir." she says with her head hung low. "We'll talk later..." Dev says to the man and he leaves realizing Dev hasn't disclosed his disease to anyone.

"You did well today...." Dev says proudly to Riya. She smiles. "Now it's time for another meeting... Ready?" He asks. "I'll try my best bhai. I mean... Sir" she says. "You have to..." He speaks under his breath. "So here is the presentation. Go through it. And next time you have to make these." He makes her understand and she silently listens to his every guidance.

At evening. Nikki and Sonakshi were so much excited. Dev and Riya reach home. Ishwari, Radharani, and Neha were out shopping.

Dev enters and moves towards his room. "Now you have to cheer up Mr. Obhodro. This is Sona's promise" she happily thinks. "Surprise..." Nikki happily says presenting the video game to Dev who has just thrown his blazer on the bed. "What is this" Dev asks surprisingly. Sona was seeing everything hiding behind the door. "Sorry, bhai. I was so rude to you...." Nikki says holding her ears. "Don't do this..." Dev hugs her. "Let's play it bhai" Nikki says happily and Dev agrees. Sona decides to prepare some popcorn and juice.

They were busy playing when Sona suddenly hears Dev's yells. She rushes to his room. Oh no.... He has seen the price tag. "Your pocket money isn't this much right!! Then how you purchased this?" He asks a bit louder. "Bhai... I have taken loan from Sona Di...." she utters afraid of his anger. "What!!!" He yells. "Mr. Dixit relax I was the one who offered her the loan," Sona says in between. "I'm not asking you..." He yells at Sona which makes her shocked. "Did I asked you about any expensive things?" He asks gritting at Nikki. She was silent and scared. Meanwhile, Riya rushes to the scenario. "Mr. Dixit why are you overreacting!!" she yells. "This is my family matter.... Outsiders stay quiet" He groans. Sonakshi was all dumbfounded at his words. Riya takes Nikki to her room.

"So I'm an outsider?" Sona asks with a tear passing down her cheeks. "I didn't mean that." Dev can't see tears in her eyes. "You are such a money-minded person, Mr. Dev Dixit," she yells and he feels a pinning pain in his head. "You can't see love... Your sister brought you in the gift. The thing matters are just that bloody price tag" she groans still weeping. He was silent as he was compelled to be quiet. He can't share his condition with anyone.... No, he can't!! He was helpless. "I can't believe this Mr. Dixit. I'm an outsider for you!! Really!! Is money everything that matters to you?" she yells and his headache grows. "To hell with your money" she yells leaving the room.

"Sona is right. Yes, she is.... I.... I'm money-minded.... I became money-minded. My little princess... My Nikki.... Brought gift for me... With so much love... And I...!!! What I did!!! And Sonakshi!! I want her to hate me... But it's so hard..." He thinks roaming in the room.

""Dev tumi ektta boka..."

"Again tumi tumi Ms. Bose."

"It's Sonakshi for you..."

"Now will you scold me for this!!"

She smiles.

"Sonakshi I'm feeling dizzy."

"What happened Dev.... Dev" she cries shaking his arms.

"Oh my God!!! I scared Dr. Bose. I can't believe" He giggles.

"You..." she chases him and he runs behind curtains to save himself. She smiles at his childishness.

"By the way, it's Sonakshi I said." she makes a stare at him.

"Okay okay...."

And they both bursts out at each other." Sona thinks about their beautiful moments. An unnoticeable curve appears on her face. "What had happened Dev. At least share with me..." she sighs packing her stuffs as it was her time to leave for her home. And today as well they didn't talk properly.

*Thud....*

It was the noise from his room. Without thinking twice she rushes to his room only to find him screaming in pain. He was holding his head as tighter he could and the table lamp was fallen as his trembling legs had hit the table. "Aaaa..." He screams holding his head and squeezing his eyes in pain. "Dev...." she rushes to hold him worriedly but stops. "Stop acting Dev" she scolds. But the pain was killing him. "Dev I said I don't like these types of jokes." she scolds quite panicking this time. His leg trembles and he falls on his knees squeezing his eyes. "Dev...." she sits towards him scolding louder. "So...son..Sonakshi.." He murmurs when his hazel brown eyes turn watery. "What happened Dev" she cries shaking his shoulder. She rushes to grab a glass of water. He breathes hard meanwhile she tries to make him drink water. "I should call Aunty Ji..." she says. He snatches her phone with his trembling hands and gestures her not to do so. "Dev... Please stop being so stubborn" she cries. He wanted to speak but the pain wasn't letting him do so. She immediately calls their family doctor. Dr. Singh and asks him to rush as fast as he could. "Dev.... Relax... The doctor is arriving soon. Nothing will happen" she consoles him wiping her tears and then his. He was breathing heavily and sweating as well. She tried to be strong meanwhile her panicking heart remain to ask about what is happening to him. "Sona.... Sonak...." Suddenly things start fading in front of his eyes. Her wet cheeks, her teary eyes, her pleading lips..... He closes his eyes falling on her lap. "Devvvv" she screams.

Riya, Nikki, and Kichu bhaiya rush hearing their screams and were shocked to see the scenario.

"Doctor please tell what had happened to him," Sona asks as he injects him some medicine. "Nothing much. Just stress" says Doctor checking his eyes by lifting up his eyelids. "Take good care of him." He says getting up from his side. Riya notices the same man assisting Dr. Singh but she decides to ignore everything else and focus on her brother's health.

"Dr. Singh". "Yes Dr. Bose." He asks turning to her. "I know whatever you said is a lie..." she says folding her hands on her chest. "Dr. Bose but why will I lie?..." He tries to speak but was cut in between by Sonakshi. "Dr. Singh. I'm a doctor as well. A nutritionist, although I don't know so deep about his condition like you. But I know whatever happened to Dev wasn't only because of stress." she declares glaring at him to seek an answer.
