(Richie's POV)

"Guys, wake up," Eddie's uncle said. My eyes fluttered open to see Eddie cradled in my arms. His face was an inch away from the letter E on the necklace he gave me. Eddie's uncle was looking at us, a section of the fort had been torn down to allow the view.

"I'm going in to get gas, we're about five minutes from the hotel. Please wake him up."

He opened his car door and went outside of the car. He shut it behind him and I returned my gaze back down on Eddie. I didn't want to wake him. He looked so peaceful. He was nuzzled up against me like a kitten, and he looked even cuter than one. I placed a hand on the side of his face and ran my thumb back and forth across his soft cheeks.

"Eddie," I whispered.

"Mm," he muttered, eyes still shut.

"Baby. Wake up," I whispered.

Eddie sighed deeply and squinted as his eyes adjusted to the light. He remained laying on me, clearly appreciating the affection I was giving him. He loved affection. I wasn't really all for it before, I thought it was gross. Holding hands, kissing in public, all that mushy shit disgusted me. I wanted nothing to do with it. Then, when I realized my true feelings for Eddie, I changed my mind completely. In an instant, my priorities switched and number one on the list was him.

"Why?" he whispered, still half-asleep. He passed out after listening to all of his lovesick music, and eating all of my candy.

"We're almost there, Eds." I said, smiling down at him. He smiled with his eyes closed and pulled the arm already around my waist tighter. He adjusted himself so he was deeper in embrace with me, which I knew would knock him out instantly.

"Eddie, don't fall back asleep, once we get there we have to unpack and go eat," I added, no longer whispering but continuing to pursue a quieted voice. I guess it must have been the tone of voice one would use if they were to go to the library, if anyone actually wanted to do that.

He pouted and looked up at me. "Fine, but until the second we get to the hotel, I'm laying right here."

I giggled. "More than fine with me."

"What do you wanna do today, Eddie?" I asked.

I could see his uncle exit the gas station and walk towards the car. "Sleep," he answered.

I let out a tiny laugh. "We're going to be in New York City, and you want to sleep?"

He nodded.

I shook my head. "How about Central Park? Do you wanna have a picnic?"

He pouted. "Yeah, of course, but not tonight. I don't know."

"Alright, I have an idea. We can go ice skating. At Rockefeller Center!"

He smiled weakly. There was clearly something on his mind I didn't know about it. "Okay, Richie."

He hugged me and his uncle stepped into the car and shut the door.

'He's awake', I mouthed to him. Eddie's uncle started the car and began driving towards our hotel.

Eddie drifted in and out of conciousness. "Hey, Mr. K?" I asked, holding my boyfriend as he slept.

"Yeah?"

"Can we take Eddie to Rockefeller Center tonight?"

He sighed. "I have some business conference calls to make, but.... it's only a couple blocks away from the hotel... and if you were super careful, I guess I could let you two-"

"Oh my god, thank you thank you thank you! I'll keep him safe, I promise."

He looked at me, holding Eds through the rear view mirror and smiled. "I'm sure you will."

I looked down at Eddie, who was drooling and snoring quietly on my chest. I smiled. The trip was just beginning, but my life with Eddie would be even longer.
