Ring, Ring.
The alarm clock rung, alerting Selena to wake up. The brunette groaned as she heard the annoying sound. She hated her alarm clock; if it woke her up, she hated it for doing so, if it didn't wake her up, she still hated it.
Selena pressed the biggest button on the alarm, the snooze button. She expected five more minutes or so for the alarm to alert her again, but it didn't.
The alarm took two hours and thirty minutes to wake her up. Once again, she groaned then looked at the time.
9:30 am the clock read.
"Shit!" She said jolting up from her queen sized bed. She was late.
The young lady took a short and quick shower and got dressed. She grabbed her purse and car keys then headed towards her car. Once fastened, she sped off safely to her job location.

Where is she? Nick thought as he paced around in his office. His best employee was late to the meeting, which began an hour ago. Thankfully, he was able to reschedule the meeting until the next day.
Just then, Selena entered the doors of his office in a rush. "I'm so sorry I'm late but-" She began to explain. Her boss held up his hand, signaling for her to stop talking.
"What company do you work for again?" Nick asked knowing the answer. "The Jonas Daily." Selena said silently, but clearly enough for him to hear. "Correct, and the Jonas Daily runs a strict business." Nick said loudly. "That means you have to come to work on time." He continued. "Are you hearing me clearly Alena?" Nick finished off with. "Yes sir, and Its Selena.... sir." She stuttered to say.
"What did I say about correcting me?" He asked walking closer to the brunette. As he got closer, she sensed a bad vibe that was about to happen. "N-not to?" Selena answered in an unsure matter.
Slap.
Nick's right hand connected with Selena's left cheek, which was now the color red after the encounter. She held her cheek as water escaped from her brown orbs. "Consider this your last warning." Her boss said, sitting down. "Yes sir." She replied leaving the room.

"Ahem!" Selena heard. She looked up from her work to see a young woman, someone who she knew. "Can I help you?" Selena asked. "You know who I am." The girl said frowning. "Sorry, I don't..." She said, lying to her face. She loved messing with her like that, not only because she disliked her, but because Nick didn't want her to be there. "I come here almost every other week." The stranger said, getting a bit frustrated. "Don't ring a bell." Selena said then went back to typing on her Apple computer. "It's me, Olivia." She said. "Ugh, just call Nick." She added, sighing deeply. "Sure." Selena said. "Good." Olivia said then smiled. "Do you have an appointment?" Selena asked as she looked at the brunette. "No, I-" She started. "Then I'm afraid he's busy." Selena added then went back to her work. "Oh come on, this is ridiculous, can you just call him?!" Olivia yelled impatiently. "I'm his girlfriend for crying out loud!" She added.
"What's all this noise?" Nick asked while entering the room. "Baby?" He added, surprised. "Nicky!" She exclaimed as hugged her boyfriend. Nick then narrowed his eyes at Selena. 'What the hell?' Was all he mouthed to Selena before Olivia pulled away. "I brought you lunch. I thought that we could eat together." Nick's girlfriend said as she intertwined their fingers together. "Uh... sure, if my assistant comes along." He said. "Why her baby?" She asked as she made a face at Selena. "I owe her lunch." He lied. "Oh, then next time baby." Olivia said kissing her boyfriend. Nick immediately pulled away and fake a smile at her. "Bye." She said at last, exiting the building.
Nick let out a sigh. Selena looked at him with both sympathy and sorrow. "What?" He asked as she stared at him with a frown and an arched eyebrow. "Nothing sir." She said turning back to her computer. Nick scoffed and went back into his office, looking back at the brunette. She was typing away at the brand new story about bullying, something she was a victim of. Now Nick was the one that was staring. He took one last look, then closed his door.

Nick was just finished writing what was last of the sports section. He was writing about how the Giants, the New York football team, and their failure against the Denver Broncos. He had always loved football, his favorite sport. In fact, he played quarterback on the football team at his old high school. He wanted to become a professional football player and having other people write about him, not the other way around. But he still loved it.
Selena was out in her own little office, writing the news section. The newspaper was yet to be published the next day. She had interviewed a couple of people about the crime they had witnessed. She hated seeing crime scenes and the sad looks on the witnesses' face.
Suddenly the office phone rung. "Jonas Daily, how may I help you?" Selena greeted. "Hi, can I please speak with Nick." A female voice asked politely. "Mr. Jonas is a little busy at the moment, but you can leave him a message and he'll call you back in an hour." She said truthfully. The deadline was today and he had to focus to finish the final touches of the Jonas Daily, their newspaper. "This is urgent, tell him it's his mother on the line." She demanded. "Okay Mrs. Jonas, one second." She said getting up then walking over to Nick's office door.
Knock, Knock.
"Come in." Nick said as he was typing a sentence. "Someone's on the phone for you." She said holding it up. Nick gazed at her then back the screen. "They'll have to wait." He said. "It's your mother sir." She added. He turned away from the screen and back at his assistant. He motioned for her to hand him the phone. She did.
"Hello?" He greeted. "Hi honey!" Denise said, happy that she finally got to talk to her son. "Hold on mom." He said then looked at Selena. "Is there something you need?" Nick asked, bitterly. "No sir." She said then slowly left the room.
"Sorry about that mom."
"It's okay honey."
"Good."
"So I called to tell you some good news!"
"What is it?"
"Well, Kevin and Danielle is visiting your father and I, and Joe and Demi are also said they're coming to visit us for Christmas.."
"Get to the point mom."
"Well it gave me an idea to have a small Jonas gathering. Just us parents and you kids for Thanksgiving and the whole month of December in the Jonas House. What do you say?"
"Sure mom, I'll go."
"Goody!"
"Okay mom, I'll see you in a week."
"And don't forget to bring your fiancé!" Denise cheered. "M-my fiancé?" Nick asked as he gulped down his saliva. "Yeah, remember you told me you proposed to your girlfriend." She recalled. Nick did too, but what she didn't know was that Olivia said no. She didn't think they were ready. Ever since then, Nick felt distant from her.
"Right...." He said. "Good, tell her I said hi." She added then hung up. Nick set the phone down and placed his head in his hands, sighing.
Thoughts started to run through his head:
Olivia is going to kill me.
She hates anything and everything to do with family.
What am I going to do?
It's either my family or Olivia.
Nick looked up to look at the picture frame on his desk. It was a picture of his family. He smiled at the beautiful picture. He did miss them after all. Of course he'd choose his family over the woman that broke his heart. But he also didn't want to disappoint his mother and family.
Suddenly, an idea came to mind: I need to hire a fake fiancé.
He smiled at his great plan.
But where am I going to find a beautiful girl who is sweet and caring? He asked. Just then, Selena walked in his office, answering his prayer.
