I had just walked into my cabin after Scott left, when a large hand clamped over my mouth. I panicked, thinking, "I will not have you take me down without a fight." I remembered from when my parents had me go to a self defense meeting, and he, the cop, said to curse, and ....fight. That's what I did. I kicked, threw my weight against him, and rendered him off balance. He hit me on the back of my neck roughly, and I stumbled to the side taking him with me. I slammed my high-heel right in the middle of his foot. He cursed, but his hand held firm over my mouth, which was muffled, but spewed the "f-bomb." I have to get his hand off my mouth, I desperately racked my brain for something. Finally it clicked, and I clamped my teeth down into the soft flesh of his palm, as I rammed my elbow into his stomach. Original, I know, but it works, I would say 97% of the time, and it did, he howled in fury and pain, stumbled back, while he cleared the doorway. I lunged and with all 100 pounds of me, I knocked him into the wall; he hit his head and fell down, dazed. I scrambled to the door, yanked it open, and ran. I knew that wouldn't keep him down long.
I had a set a steady pace running through the thick brush, when I heard heavy breathing coming from the right side of my body. I slowed to a stop, and glanced into the dark, misty woods. My heart accelerated, goosebumps raised on the back of my neck and arms. You know he's still here, Crystal, I warily look around, as my adrenaline raced to a high. A growl vibrated from behind me, I froze, my eyes rounded, as I slowly swiveled to face the huge light brown wolf, with black eyes on me. He snarled, slobber dropped from his white canine teeth, as he crouched, about to pounce. I froze. Everything I had trained on how to react went out the door, saying bye- bye; hope you have a great time being eaten. I roll my eyes. He moved and my fight-flight instinct kicked in, and it definitely wasn't fight. I turned to run, but he caught my pant leg. I screamed as he pulled me down, and drug me into the woods. "No, no, no," I tried to grab a hold of something, but it was ripped from my grasp. I released another blood-curdling scream and the wolf bit my calf. The scent of my blood filled the air and it smeared on the ground as a deeper, stronger snarl echoed to my left. He stopped, his black gaze on the tree line to the left. I followed his line of vision. A massive, and I mean massive, black wolf crept out of the dark, head down, teeth glistening, and blue eyes glowing. He was basically translucent in the surrounding blackness. "This just keeps getting better and better," I mumble to myself. Since his focus was elsewhere, I tried to wiggle out from underneath his paw, which was holding down my right thigh, which was also the one he bit. He felt me trying to get away, and he looked down at me, started to snarl, when he received a boot to his face! He yelped and staggered back. He shook it off, and turned his head to me; I scrambled back, on my butt, as he leaped forward. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed the black shadow race at him; they hit mid-air, and fell to the ground in a bone-rattling impact. In the blink of an eye, the black wolf was on him relentlessly. They bit, kicked, and snarled. Finally, the black wolf caught the brown wolf's hind leg in his mouth and clamped down, and I literally heard the bones crack in half. The brown wolf howled in agony. I heard hard thumps come from behind me, I whipped around to see two more wolves enter the fight. One was snow white, the other dark grey, they scaled over me and I let out a yelp, and curled into a ball. They added to the conflict, in noise and power. They seemed to be....protecting me. A nose bumped my shoulder, and I stilled, my thoughts raced. A whimper and another nudge. I peeked out through my elbow. It was the black wolf. He whined and licked my cheek. What the heck? I wiped my cheek off. I stared into his cornflower blue eyes. They looked so familiar. The grey wolf snapped at the black wolf, then went to engage the brown wolf. The black wolf grabbed my shirt and helped me up. He pushed me forward....onto my injured leg. Well, there I go, about to kiss the ground, falling on my face gracefully, but he stepped in front of me and I fell onto him. I twisted and sat on my tush as I pulled up my pant leg. I gasped, Was it normal to have something white sticking out of your calf? The black wolf moved closer to it, and shook his head at me. I drew back in shock, did the wolf just answer my question? I put my hand on the white bone, most likely my tibia, and began to put pressure on it. I shut my eyes to the stinging, tortuous pain, but I kept pushing it back into place, until it snapped back in place. I fell onto my back, the blackness swam into view, and the last thing I remember was blues eyes above me.

I watched as she gritted her teeth against the pain and set the bone back in place. I was useless to help her. She fell back and passed out. Adrian and Hugh had it handled with the rogue. I compelled myself to shift, and it was painful. But it always was if you forced it, or tried to stop a shift. I pulled on my jeans from where we had a hidden stash, just in case. I found a shirt that was most likely Hugh's before he shifted. Now it was just in shreds, but I used it to bind her wound and put pressure on it to stop the bleeding. Adrian appeared at my side, crouched. "We need to get her to the cabin," I ordered, my voice clearly defined to not argue. But he just nodded, and took over the pressure. I put an arm around her upper back and rib cage, and the other underneath her knees. I climbed to my feet, and adjusted her in my arms and began walking to the cabin, followed closely by Adrian, who kept pressure on her leg, and Hugh.
