I paced in the cabin, while we waited for Adrian and Hugh to return. Crystal slouched in the chair at the one table we had in this cabin. Her leg had a new bandage, but from the looks of her leg the bone had already healed, and her expression was stoic. Ah yes, a werewolf's healing ability was true to the legends and it did heal fast! Adrian and Hugh finally walked through the reinforced door. I sighed in relief, "Anything?"
"Sorry, boss," Adrian shook his head, "we got nothing."
"Of course, you didn't get anything," she snorts, "they are fantastic at not being discovered." We all turned to her with frowns, and she shrank back, "My bad, my bad."
I glared at her, "We are coming back to these people you are always referring to but first..." I faded off and let her squirm in the uncomfortable, tense silence. I smirked when she began to fiddle with her fingers, hair, and she sighed, placing her hands in her lap. "You lied!" I finally exclaim.
Her head shot up, "No, I did not!"
"Yes, you did! You said you were a werewolf, but clearly that is not the case," I insisted, my hands in the air, "what do you consider lying?"
"Lying in a horizontal position," she said with attitude.
I growl at her sassy reply, but she just managed to avoid answering the question. I ran my fingers through my black hair.
"And I didn't lie, I just left out some tid-bit of information," she continued, as she glanced away, and nervously clasped her long fingers.
"Oh, wow. Thanks," Adrian mocked, as he took a seat in the chair next to her.
I take the seat on the other side of her, and she shifted in her seat. "Who are these people you always refer to as they or them."
"You seriously don't know what I am talking about, do you?" she gawked at us. We glanced at each other, and shook our heads' in sync. "Oh, you have got to be kidding me?"
(Crystal)
They just gazed at me, with that dumb guy look. I slapped my forehead into the palm of my hand. "Kidnapping innocent werewolves? Experiments on them? Ring a bell?" I asked them, my hands tapping out at rhythm on the table.
Scott lay a hand on top of my hand, which was tapping, "please, stop, it's annoying. Can you explain this a little more clearly?"
I yanked my hand from underneath his, "I can try." All three of them were quiet as I began my tale. "They are called-" I was interrupted.
Scott's phone rang, with that ringtone, "your mother is calling, pick up the phone." He dug out his phone, as he stood, and mouthed, "Sorry." I let out an exaggerated sigh and leaned back in my chair. He answered the phone with, "Hey Mom, now is not a good time."
"You listen here, young man, you don't tell me when it is a good time or not," her enraged voice filled the air, "you never came home last night. I was worried, and I have to go to the hospital right now because I got called in, but when I get home in two hours," she threatened," you and Adrian better be in this house."
She hung up, and Scott put his phone away, "Well, lets get started, you have two hours." He sat down.
Adrian shifted, and asked, "On a scale of one to ten, how mad is she?"
"Oh buddy, she is past that, and onto the silent phase," Scott slapped Adrian's shoulder, as Adrian got a horrified expression.
"Can I begin? Because time is limited, and you will have questions," I snap, and they nod. Ugh, finally, I roll my eyes. "They call themselves the Elites, and it's ran by the notorious Rowan Gates, a glorified madman," I stood and began hobbling around the room, on my one good leg, like a caged tiger. "Gates has been after me for two years, since my parents were killed, and I'm 95% sure that he killed them."
"Okay, but what about the other 5%?" Adrian leaned forward, angry mom forgotten.
"Yet to be proven, "I smirked at him.
He drew back, "Oh."
"Anyway," I wave him off, "he runs an organization that is dedicated to finding werewolves with unique abilities that they were born with."
"Like you, you're werewolf, yet you can move things with your mind, right?" Hugh sat up in interest, eyes wide and excited.
"Yea, like me," I mumbled as I limped around the room.
"If you shift," Scott watched me as I crossed the room back and forth, "do you still control things with your mind?"
"First of all, I don't control minds or read them, I move things, objects, with my mind. It's two very different gifts," I correct them, "and no, I don't shift very often, not because of the whole moving things with my mind, it's mostly due because I don't have the need to shift very often like you guys do. When I do shift it's more of an emotion based change, which can be a very dangerous change."
"Wait, just hold up a second," Hugh did the time-out sign, "you're telling me you don't have to shift every month?"
"I haven't shifted for about...." I acted like I had to think about it, "three months."
Their jaws dropped, and their eyes widened.
"No way," breathed Adrian.
"That can't be possible," Hugh said.
"Oh, its possible," Scott confirmed.
"How do you know that?" Hugh looked at him strangely.
"Because I've done it," Scott stared at me. Adrian and Hugh stared at him. Hugh's expression was horrified, but Adrian's was guarded.
I studied him closely, then it hit me. I froze, and faced him with my hands on my hips, as I accused, "You're gifted aren't you?"
