After Scott came out fresh and clean, with a spicy smell of cologne, Hugh took his turn.
A knock sounded, and I yanked it open, "What do you want?"
"Just wanted to let you know that that we are in room-" Puck began.
"Twenty," I finished for him. "Yea, I know, and what are you? Kira's lackey?"
"No," he bristled. "I'm her trusted partner."
"Sidekick," I mumbled slamming the door in his face before he could respond. Hugh was out with new clothes and Adrian ran in the bathroom and was out five minutes later, also with a new outfit. "Are you even clean?"
"Yes," Adrian glared at me. "I am, but I am starving. Let's eat."
I handed out the food, and sat on the couch. Adrian plopped down beside me on one side with Hugh on the other side of me. They munched happily watching their show, Scott sat in one of the chairs, trying not to laugh at me squished between two big, tall guys. I smiled and ate the delicious food. Fifteen minutes later, I gathered the trays and placed them outside of our door. I shut the door and locked it, while the boys went to the bathroom and got their beds ready. I, on the other hand, got the queen-sized bed all to myself. I turned off all the lights, but the bathroom light, and slid beneath the sheets. They fell into their beds with groans and they occasionally hit each other just randomly. After, like the tenth time, one of them hit the other, I said, "Do we need to move you guys away from each other like kindergardeners, or can you stop touching each other?"
They spoke together, "No!"
"What are you guys? Triplets?" I kept the TV on, but turned away from it.
They were silent, as I faded into a soft sleep.
"Do you want your brother to live?" Gates sneered into my face, where I lay strapped down by silver chains. "You will do this."
Tears welled in my blue eyes, and my black bangs fell into my eyes. "Please," I begged, "leave Ethan out of this, you don't need him."
"Well, just agree to have the test done," Gates gently brushed my bangs away, and I jerked my head away from his cruel hands.
"No one has ever survived this experiment, please just let me take my brother and leave," I tried to bargain with him.
He laughed, and a shiver ran down my spine. My bony wrists hit the silver chains, and my skin sizzled. I clenched my jaw to keep from shouting. He had starved me for the last year or less trying to break me into willingly doing the test that has killed thousands of werewolves already. I kept hoping that if I fought his evil ways maybe he would let me be, sign me off as a lost cause and release myself and my little brother. But he just kept making it worst, the punishments, and the no food.
"You either agree to do it, or little brother will take the fall for you," Gates walked around the table where I lay, and opened the door. Ethan shuffled inside, head down, and black hair crazy.
"Ethan?" I lifted my head to see him better.
"Crystal?" he raised his little head and his ice blue eyes met mine. He was terrified.
"Hey, squirt," I willed a smile to my bruised face. "Everything will be okay, I promise."
He walked to my bed, and clasped my thin hand, and asked, "Are you going to be okay?"
"Of course I will," I forced another smile. "Listen to me Ethan, I will always come back for you, okay?"
He nodded, and I continued, "Because I promised our parents I would look after you. Look at me," I told him, and he met my identical blue eyes. "I love you."
"I love you too, Crystal," Ethan was pulled away by a nurse. He fought her, saying,"No, I don't want to leave her, she needs me."
"Ethan, it's okay, I promise," I caught his wild, scared blue eyes, and the door shut. I could still hear his shouts and pleads to stay with me. A tear fell, and Gates handed me a piece of paper. I signed it and lay back. Gates motioned for the doctor to begin. The doctor approached, with a syringe filled with a sliver liquid. The last thing I remember was Gates eyes were filled with obsession and power.
I sat up in bed, my mouth opened with a silent shout. I put a hand to my heart and breathed deep in and out until I was calm again. "Dream, just a dream," I told myself, but that was the last memory I had of Ethan, so my mind kept playing it over and over. I lay back, arm underneath my head as I stared up at the ceiling. Hours passed, and I finally must have dozed off, because when I woke the next morning, Adrian was taking the tray of breakfast from the man again.
