Chapter 5.... The Football Game
Jake walked me out to the field, he showed me the bleachers. He told me it would be a while before people would show up. He told me to sit at the very front so I can see him better and he can see me. He even said that he might talk to me as well, I nodded and I sat there on the bleachers right where he told me to. After a while people surrounded me as I waited for the boys to come out. I guess he pulled me out of class very early just to get me out here. It took a little bit but after a while when I looked around again, the place was packed with people. Some who I've seen before and others who I've never seen before. I looked around just before the game started to see all the faces, that is when I seen the boy who talks to me when I am alone, and he wasn't alone. Like yesterday
They were a few rows above me but I could still see them. There he sat with the girl who he was holding hands with the other day when I collided with him the second time. Let me tell you, she was all over him, kissing his cheek and his lips, and he was just accepting it. I wanted to throw up, really this is a public place people, get a room. But I couldn't understand why I felt this sense of anger and sadness. Every time she kissed him my anger went up, I shook it off. I felt envious, still I didn't know why. I couldn't look at them any longer, I was starting to get sick, thank god something distracted me
"Welcome the boys football team." Someone called from a microphone
I looked back over to the field and there were the boys running onto the field, the school colours was a dead give away, my school of course . I looked for Jake's number, 20. I looked around on the backs of all the players and that's when I found number 20. He turned around and looked right at me and waved, I waved back, he nodded as he took his place. I looked back over to the boy and the boy was glaring at Jake. His girlfriend didn't seem to notice this at all, but I did. There was something off about that boy and he must hate Jake or something. But why?
Then the other team came on and some people cheered while others stayed quiet, like me. They went onto the field and took their place too. I watched all the boys as they took their positions. Soon the game started and trust me it was a blast, I seen Jake get a touch down or two. Everyone cheered and applauded and he took the cheers with great gratitude as he smiled and waved. He became serious again and took his place. The ball was passed and the boys ran, but while there were trying to another pass, Jake was tackled and he didn't get up right away. I stood up along with the others to see if he was okay
I placed my hands over my mouth. I almost ran down there to get him but I knew I shouldn't. After a little bit of help he got up and gave a thumbs up. He was being escorted to the bench as his coach was talking to him. Once his coach was done talking to him he came over and sat down on the bench, right in front of me. He took his helmet off and he was covered in sweat, he shook his head and placed his head down. He looked up again and turned his head to face me. We made eye contact and he smiled, he had his mouth guard in. I laughed, when he realized what I was laughing at he took out his mouth guard out
"Are you okay?" I asked
"Yes, just a little roughhousing that's all."
"Did you hit your head?" I asked
"Yes but it wasn't very hard. I'm fine. No signs of a concussion."
"Okay. Nice job by the way." I said
"Thanks." He said as he smiled
"Here how about when the game is done I'll take you home." He said
"Okay I would like that." I said
"Are you enjoying the game?"
"Yes, it's awesome."
"Good I'm glad to hear."
