'Ouch!' I winced as Allison stabbed another pin into my hair. 'Go easy on the head Medusa!' I snapped at her, waiting for her to finish pinning up my hair. I heard something snap and then her groaning.
'Your hair is so impossibly thick!' she yelled throwing a bobby pin onto the ground before stomping out of the room. I watched after her before rolling my eyes and grabbing the hairbrush and smoothing down the haystack of a head she had left with me. My hair was all the way down to my waist now and it was thick and chocolate coloured as it fell in waves down my back. Pretty, sure. But a nightmare to curl.
Awhile later, another woman walked into the room, her size 2 body wrapped snugly in a tight-fitting blue dress and her hair up in a simple bun.
'Hello Ms Meyer, I'm Sandra and I'm here to be in charge of your look today-', her eyes flickered to my hair, '-starting with your hair.' I gave her a smile.
'Nice to meet you Sandra, and call me Millana. Ms Meyer is my mother.' And I do not want to be associated with her. But I gave her a smile instead of the extra information at the end. She smiled back and then called for someone.
When she said she was in charge of my look, I was certain she meant just her. But clearly not because a group of 3 people came rushing in with bags and brushes and a bunch of other things I couldn't even recognise.
Before I could register what was happening, I was pushed back into a chair and I could feel hands all over me. And no, not in a sexual way. I had already gone to the spa 2 days before and my body was as smooth and as hairless as a baby's bottom.
I felt hands weaving gently through my hair, and the pins were going in so easily yet they were firm and kept my hair up. I wondered where Ally had gone, she sure needed to get some lessons from these guys. There were another two people working on my face applying some kind of moisturising creams, to begin with.
'Natural, please. Keep it as natural as possible.' I piped in when I saw one of the girls pick up an incredibly dark shade of red. I wasn't in the mood to get my face feeling like the frosting for a cake. The girl gave me a reassuring smile and nodded before taking out a peachy colour instead.
Awhile later Ally walked back into the room a plate of sausages in her hand. I raised an eyebrow as I watched her shove more and more food down, watching me intently from the mirror.
'You look ugly.' she finally stated. Sandra froze from behind me and she looked utterly shocked, her eyes landing on Ally through the mirror. Ally caught her gaze and her eyes widened.
'No I mean! Your work looks wonderful San, it's just my best friend you know she's just so hideously, you know- I-' finally she sighed and rubbed the back of her neck. For a second I thought she was going to apologize until.
'She still looks hideous but you made her face decently bearable so congrats.' she cheerily said. I burst out laughing at the look on Sandra's face that Allison completely ignored.
'I'm gonna go put on my dress.' Allison made her escape, grabbing her dress from the hanger and rushing towards the changing rooms in the back. Sandra and her team stared after her in astonishment for a moment before I cleared my throat and they quickly got back to work.
When the makeup was finally complete, Jenny and her partner Markus, stepped back to let me look at the finale. I caught sight of myself in the mirror and the biggest smile took over my face. Thankfully they listened to me when I asked for an all natural look and other than concealer and primer, I had next to nothing on my skin.
They definitely went all out on the highlighter though. However, it looked fantastic, with my cheekbones and T-zone shining just as bright as the tip of my nose. Not too much, but just enough. My eyes had a very light brown and peach smokey eye going for them with glittery eyeshadow towards the end and my lips were coated in iconic rosy matt lipstick- not to mention how great my lashes looked after that mascara.
