'That was so much fun!' I gasped out, breathless. Alexander was right beside me, looking a little shaken and flustered but completely fine aside from the cute tinge of pink on his cheeks.
'Yeah...didn't think you'd be able to keep up with that.' he admitted almost sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck as he avoided my gaze and continued to stroll further. I rolled my eyes and muttered an incohesive "of course you didn't" under my breath. He heard me though, with his bat ears but refused to comment and instead gave me a soft look from the corner of his eye.
Adrenalin was pumping through my veins and my heart was racing. Yet I could feel the flush on my cheeks and the grin that was too big to fit on my face. The thrill, the excitement, the adventure, it was all there and I had so much more fun than I'd ever expected. We had already gone on the roller coasters and I was beginning to get exhausted.
'Hey, let's go get some cotton candy!' I pointed eagerly to a cotton candy stand on the side of the street before subconsciously linking our arms and pulling Alexander with me to the stall.
'Really? Cotton candy?' he asked as we approached the pale pink and blue wagon decorated delightfully with cute little ornaments.
'Of course! No fair is complete without cotton candy. It's the law of nature.'
'I'd like to know which law course you're taking.' he muttered beside me. I rolled my eyes and chose to ignore his stupid comment before ordering one large blue cotton candy. I doubted either of us would finish one whole one each.
After paying for it, I practically dragged him to the side, pulling out a bundle of the flossed sugar and putting it in my mouth.
'It's literally just strands of pure sugar with colouring.' he stated beside me.
'Thank you for that completely obvious and unnecessary fact Mr Evans, now if you could so kindly shut your rich hole and stuff it with some of these strands of pure sugar, I'd really appreciate it.'
He visibly struggled to mask his laughter before wisely taking a large chunk of the cotton candy and putting in his mouth.
'Oh would you look at that, he has the ability to be normal!' I cheered in a dramatic voice. He raised a careful eyebrow at me.
'How did it feel? Eating diabetes at its finest state?' his green eyes stared down at me for a moment before he ever so slowly ran his tongue over his lips, removing any trace of sugar left on them. Then he flashed me a million dollar grin.
'It felt wonderful.'
My eyes were fixated on his lips and, my lord did they always look this soft? Suddenly, I spotted some sugar on the corner of his mouth that his lips had missed and me being the perfectionist I was, had to be bothered by it.
'You have some...sugar-' I gestured with my hands to his lips and he gave me a soft frown before trying to locate the error...with his tongue. But his tongue couldn't reach that spot that was reasonably away from his mouth and I couldn't help what I did next. I couldn't stand his lack of tongue-mind coordination and just took matters into my own hands. Literally.
I groaned before moving my hand to his face. It was a second long and I wiped away the sugar with a single brush of my thumb but the moment the skin on my thumb made contact with the skin on his face, everything sort of froze for a second.
I shifted uncomfortably before clearing my throat and turning away from him to face the stalls set up around the fair. I could feel his presence behind me and considering he was like a whole head, if not more, taller than me, that presence was hard to ignore.
'Let's go play some fair games!' I suggested, avoiding his brilliant green eyes.
'Do we really have nothing better to do?' I knew he was going to say that before he even opened his mouth and my response was automatic.
