'No! Absolutely not!' I blinked at my parents as if they were insane. They might as well have been. Thinking they could ship me off at the tender age of 20 to get married! While I was still in school and very able to lead my all life all because of some stupid pack some old men made once.

My mother sighed and took another sip of her wine. Allison was sitting incredibly quietly, her brows slightly knit as if she couldn't quite believe the situation either.

'Dad!' I turned to look at my father who watched me sadly.

'You are the heir to this company, it is your d-'

'Keep your company I don't want it. Why can't you get Ryan to marry one of their daughters?' I snapped at them. My mother gave me an annoyed look.

'Your brother is 15 years old and besides, the Evans don't have any daughters.'

'I'm pretty sure Ryan is gay though.' I chipped in making my dad choke on his water before coughing comically. My mother's eyes narrowed down on me and I sized up her stare until she sighed and looked down.

'Your whole life we've been giving you everything. Providing you with everything. You're going to university because of the income made by this company and your lovely little apartment is in your hands because of this company. If you refuse to comply and follow your duty, we're taking both these things away from you.'

I stared at my mother in complete and absolute shock. She had resolved to blackmail me into this arranged marriage. I gaped at her before turning to my father who also seemed shocked to hear that come from her mouth. Watching my expression my mother smirked discreetly before lifting her glass to take another sip.

This is precisely why I hated the idea of working for my parents. They'd blackmail me with my job if I refused to obey them. I felt a muscle in my jaw tick. I put my fork down and picked up my clutch.

'I've had enough lunch for today. I'll meet you back at the apartment' I turned towards Allison.

'No I'm done, I'll come with you.' She got up and took her handbag, before giving both my parents forced smiles. 'Mr Meyer, Ms Meyer.' she nodded in goodbye and then I turned and walked out of the restaurant without even giving them a second glance.

'I'm 20! I'm barely halfway through the university course and they want me to drop it all for what? Getting married to some statue made of flesh that does nothing but work?' I ranted to Allison. A small smile was playing on the corners of her mouth.

'Awe c'mon, he can't possibly be as bad as you make him be?' she gives me a pouted smile that I raise an eyebrow to.

'Puh. Leese. His reading probably consists of his emails and if he has any spare time, it's safe to say it's spent in his office.' Allison doesn't respond and I watch her eagerly tapping away on her phone.

Rude.

'Besides. You know how I don't want to marry some billionaire CEO of one of the world's biggest companies. I want someone simple.' I sigh to myself again before increasing the speed of my car.

'If all else fails, you'll have his money to spend.' Allison chimes in, her eyes still on her phone. I scoff at her.

'I have enough money on my own, I don't need his to help me afford anything else. And I'm not gonna marry him for his money.' I snapped at her, a small glare on my face.
