22 Off to Abyss

Three more hours before we get to Alpha Xavier's pack, Abyss. I've heard too much gruesome things about it from some pack members from both my pack and Harry's pack that I almost want to take back my decision of going with Maddox today. 

"Baby?" Maddox snaps my train of thought and I turn to him with eyebrows raised.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, why?"

"What's on your mind?" 

"Hmm, just wondering how Abyss would be like. How was it when you came?"

"I haven't gone there much seeing as it's a long trip but from what I remember, it's how you would expect it to be."

"Oh.. I was hoping you'd tell me not to worry.."

He chuckles and pulls me to him. "Don't worry love, I'm here." He kisses the top of my forehead and I watch the trees passing from the warmth of his arms. 

I decide not to think much of Abyss and instead focus on my little moments with Maddox.

Like that time my face turned red as a tomato when he gave me a gift. It was in a little white box with a fluffy pink ribbon. He gave me a pacifier.

"I got it made just for you, I know you suck your thumb when you get anxious or remember your old pack and stuff. This would help. It has your name on it."

My pacifier. It's white with a gold lining and gold letters that spell out my name. I have used it about three times, I've convinced Dadda to just let me suck his thumb. He likes that better than me sucking my own. 

I giggle at the memory. 

"What's funny?"

"My pacifier." I mindlink him, not wanting the two guards in the front seats to hear us. 

"That you don't use.." 
"I'm sorry, you know I like your thumb much better, Dadda."

"Mhmm." He shuts off the mindlink at that.

"Go to sleep, love." He kisses my forehead and positions me comfortably in his lap.

I'm still a bit anxious about where we're going and I make grabby hands at his hand. 

He looks at me, shaking his head as if to say no but I give him my pretty please eyes and with a sigh he lets me suck on his thumb.

Thanks Dadda. I love you.

Ascher. How she convinced me to let her suck my thumb while in the car with my Beta and Gamma, I have no idea. I'm just hoping they don't look back at us. 

I'm worried and as anxious as she is about Abyss, I'm fairly certain nothing beats my anxiety towards the entire thing. 

No matter what happens, it has to work. I can't give back Ascher to Harry. But what really scares me? Xavier can't have Ascher. It's not beneath him to steal her, just like what he did to Harry. 

It's stressing me out just thinking of all the negative things that are likely to happen.

Oddly enough though, Ascher gaining comfort from sucking my thumb is giving me much needed comfort too. 

I'm such a sucker for her. My little baby. 

I watch her as she sleeps, my thumb probably all wrinkly now. My eyes drift to the purplish red marks all over her neck. Not truly marked but at least marked somehow. 

I can't believe I'm taking her with me. Unmarked and pure. 

She's Xavier's perfect prey. 

I mindlink both my Beta and Gamma, "Once we're about an hour away from Abyss, I want you to leave me and drive Ascher back home. Take the two guards from the other car with you, I'll proceed to Abyss with the other two. Make sure she gets to Frees safe." 

"Yes, Alpha." 

"Don't drive back, no matter what she says, okay?" My voice breaks. 

"Okay, Maddox. Don't worry, we got her." 

"I have a  bad feeling. You both be on high alert, just in case."

I have a really bad feeling about today. It might just be because Xavier is bad news no matter what but I'll be on high alert anyway. I return my attention to my sleeping mate, such perfection. The Moon Goddess has truly blessed me. 

We're almost an hour away from Abyss, here is alright. 

We do the switch as careful as we could, trying not to wake Ascher up. I tell the two guards to shift and guard the car. I watch Ascher's car shrink off to the distance as I prepare myself to enter Abyss. It's always a draining experience to visit any of the dark packs. The energy just doesn't line up with mine and it's automatically a blow to our strength. The guards will also feel this. 

I hope that whatever bad is coming my way that I've done enough to remove Ascher from it.
