Senses of Spring

A scarlet flower blooms just outside my room

Chasing away any thoughts of gloom

And once it is bathed in a basin of light

There is never again any place for the night

A green little shrub shudders and shows

The true value of spring'spromising vows

Just under my window it stretches its hugs

Welcoming blue birds and boisterous bugs

The call of a bird will now cause me to rise

I'll be up bright and early with its colorful cries

Alert me to rain those birds will as well

How they know all these things I wish they would tell

The scent of the grass, it will make me alive

Troubled thoughts leave my mind like bees a beehive

My mind will grow sharp and alert as a knife

So much that I get higher hopes for my life

The taste of fresh produce is finally here

Big baskets of berries will come from right here

Fun fruit and fresh veggies- what a delight!

Now finally everything can be just right
