Her shaking hand picked up the phone and answered it, her eyes darting around at her friends, before putting the phone on speaker and sitting on the table, pushing aside the papers that were scattered everywhere and sorting out the bags she had brought along.
"Hello, hello? Uh, I wanted to record a message for you to help you get settled in on your first night. Um, I actually worked in that office before you. I'm finishing up my last week now, as a matter of fact. So, I know it can be a bit overwhelming, but I'm here to tell you that there's nothing to worry about. Uh, You'll do fine. So, lets just focus on getting you through your first week. Okay? Uh, lets see... First there's an introductory greeting from the company that I'm supposed to read. Uh, it's kind of a legal thing, you know. 'Welcome to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. A magical place for kids and grown-ups alike, where fantasy and fun come to life. Fazbear Entertainment is not responsible for damage to property or person. Upon discovering that damage or death has occurred, a missing person report will be filed within 90 days, or as soon as property and premises have been thoroughly cleaned and bleached, and the carpets have been replaced.' Blah, blah, blah... Now, that might sound bad, I know, but there's really nothing to worry about. Uh, the animatronic characters here do get a bit... quirky at night, but do I blame them?"
Shad took a quick look around and noticed her friends had gone, before focusing on the call once again,
"-No. If I were forced to sing those stupid songs for twenty years and I never got a bath? I'd probably be a bit irritable at night too. So, remember, these characters hold a special place in the hearts of children and we need to show them a little respect, right? Okay. So, just be aware, the characters do tend to wander a bit. Uh, they're left in some kind of free-roaming mode at night. Uh...Something about their servos locking up if they get turned off for too long. Uh, they used to be allowed to walk around during the day too. But then there was The Bite of '87. Yeah. I-It's amazing the human body can live without the frontal lobe, Ya know? Now, uh, concerning your safety, the only real risk to you as a night watchman here, if any, is the fact the characters, uh, if they happen to see you after hours, they probably wont recognise you as a person. They'll p-most likely see you as a metal endoskeleton without its costume on. Now, since that's against the rules here at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, they'll probably try to...forcefully stuff you inside a Freddy Fazbear suit. Um, now that wouldn't be so bad if the suits themselves weren't filled with crossbeams, wires and animatronic devices, especially around the facial area. So, you could imagine how having your head forcefully pressed inside one of those could cause a bit of discomfort...and death. Uh, the only parts of you that would likely see the light of day again would be you eyeballs and teeth when the pop out the front of the mask, heh. Y-yeah, they don't tell you those things when you sign up. But hey, Your first day should be a breeze. I'll chat with you tomorrow. Uh, check those cameras, and remember to close the doors only if absolutely necessary. Gotta conserve power! Alright, good night!"
"Uh...Okay..." Shadow looked around and pushed more papers aside, finding a small tablet. She flicked it on and saw the cameras and a map around the entire building. The rooms changed with a quick tap of the screen.
"Stage, yep. Pirates cove, yes. Parts and service, uh, yes...Kitchen? no..." She put the tablet down and picked up her phone, flicking on the flashlight. Footsteps echoed through the empty halls. The fan that was still sat on the desk occasionally made the papers on the walls crash into each other, the sounds once again echoed. "I don't like this...Its getting creepy. Chica? Foxy? Bonnie? Fazbears?" She yelled.
The kitchen came into sight and she opened the door slightly, catching a glimpse of at least three animatronics stood in front of the oven.
"Chica?" She pushed open the door a little wider to see four of the five animatronics: Freddy, Foxy, Bonnie and Chica.
"Sh-Shadow?" The voice seemed to be filled with fear, "Shad Run!"
"Huh, what?"
"Shad! Please you heard phone dude! Run! Go to the office and close the doors when we get near! Please!"
She followed the instructions, but couldn't help but wonder why. Why had the told her to do that? A sudden noise brought her back to reality as she slammed her hand onto the button to close the door, clutching her chest and feeling her heart beating rapidly.
"Oh...my god!" Shadow had her head against the desk, the small fan occasionally blowing her hair back. She checked her phone again. 5:45. Fifteen minutes to go. The tablet flicked on as she took another glance to check the battery. 42% left.
The light flickered in the hall. Nobody there.
She leaned back against the wall and turned the radio on. 10 minutes left.
She went to her playlist and started playing that instead. 8 minutes left.
Short songs played and she hummed along. 4 minutes left.
Her bags rustled slightly as she moved them around. 3 minutes left. She began walking towards the bathrooms to get changed into her school uniform. When she had got changed and picked up her bag of school books and sorted out the pockets in her cardigan, she stepped out into the main room.
On the stage were Bonnie, Chica and Freddy. She wandered over to Pirates Cove. Foxy was now there. But no sign of Gold.
"Huh...Guess I'll have to ask them when I get to school..."
A bell chimed 6 am in the distance. Shadow pushed against the heavy doors and ran out. She pulled her bike chain off and began riding away, hoping to be able to call at her house to drop off her security uniform and grab a bite to eat...
