"I don't understand it!" Shad yelled, pushing the papers off her desk. The end of her shift had come quickly after seeing the old, damaged 'originals' as the 'toys' said. "Why don't they remember me? Is it because they're damaged so badly?" She leaned back in the chair and fell off.

She wanted to go back desperately, to try and find out what happened to them, but it was still only 8 am and sixteen hours before the start of her shift.

"I'll go and ask if I can work overtime. Then, I can at least find something..." She said, pulling her jacket on over her uniform.

...

The heavy doors were stood open, children running around, screaming and playing. She walked over to the desk.

"Mornin' how can I help?" The figure sat there, staring at the computer monitor.

"Hi, I, uh... I'd like to see if I could work overtime for a bit. I'm the night security guard but I love it here and I have nothing to do at home. I can work for free if you want!" She was lying about having nothing to do, the house was a mess where the group had decided to play games, but she was willing to do anything to help them.

"Oh... Uh, really? You love this place?" He looked up at her, "Well... We can hire you as day security and mechanic. $300 for all week? There are a few broken down animatronics in the back room if you want to look at them.. I see you have worked with animatronics before?"

"Yes, thank you!"

She ran off towards the back room. Forgetting the door was locked, she ran straight into it. A few children were laughing at her and she sat on the floor.

"Huh. I guess I locked the door." She smiled, noticing the kids behind her. "What are you doing here? And why and you laughing at me?"

"We were playing over here, but then you ran into that door."

"Well... I guess I forgot that I locked the door last night. Well, this morning."

"I know you! You have the nightshift! Why are you here during the day?"

"I'm getting paid overkill if I can fix the animatronics in there." She smiled, pointing at the room.

"I thought it was called overtime, not overkill?"

"Smart kid. I call it overkill. I dont like working overkill, so shoo. You shouldn't be back here anyway."

"But you are."

"Geez kid, I work here! I need to fix the animatronics in that room, but it might be dangerous, so go away."

"If it's dangerous, why are you doing it?"

"Because, I work here. I don't really care and I have a genuine disregard for instinctive self-preservation, as is one of the requirements of working the nightshift. Get out, please. Or at least stay away. And be careful." She said, stepping into the room and closing the door behind her.

She didn't lock it, just in case anything undesirable happened. The room wasn't as small or messy as the week before, but it would still be a task to fix the animatronics.

"Okay then... Lets go with what looks the hardest first. Uh... Bonnie's face and arm." She said, moving the animatronic to the centre of the room and turning the power to the endoskeleton and suit off completely. She moved different materials and wires around, before finding suitable parts to fix him up with. Chica and Freddy weren't too hard, dents were easy to remove, and Foxy was torn and a few of the wires were connected incorrectly. It took her a total of four an a half hours to fix them up, but they still didn't show any signs of memory when she flicked the power on.

"Huh. I thought repairs would have been good enough. Guess not." She turned and opened the door, noticing the children were still stood there.

"Why were you talking to the animatronics?" A short girl stepped forward, trying to see into the room.

"Yeah, they're powered off and broken down!" Another shouted as Shad closed the door.

"Okay... You're, what? Five, six maybe? You know the animatronics out on the stage?" They nodded, as she thought of a way to explain it without giving too much away, "Well, the ones in there are the old ones, and they're all broken, but before, I used to talk to them. It gets lonely here at night, you know. Six hours in an office, all alone, and my shift starts at midnight! but I'm not allowed to sleep, so what I'd do is go and talk to the animatronics. Happy?" She turned, about to head off to the main hall for food, "Now, whatever you do, don't go in that room. Its dangerous, okay? I mean it! Go in that room and there will be serious consequences."

She left the children playing outside the room, hoping that it wasn't actually dangerous. She was sat watching the animatronics on stage, watching the children running around and eating pizza.

"Shadow?" The voice took her by surprise and pulled her from a deep thought.

"Huh? What? Oh, Hi."

"Yeah... are you okay? You were sat staring off into space with a slice of pizza kinda halfway to your mouth?" It was the manager.

"Oh, yeah. I was just thinking..."

"Okay then... Did you manage to fix up the animatronics in the back room?"

"Yeah, It didn't take too long. Only about four and a half hours."

"Only?"

"Look, I've built up and broken down animatronics my entire life. It can take hours to fix some... I managed to sort out all four of them." She began to think why Gold wasn't there.

"-dow? Shad?"

"Yeah? Oh, sorry."

"Is something wrong?"

"Well... There are only four animatronics in the back room. Originally, there were five. Do you know what happened to the golden bear?"

"No. I don't. But I do think that you should go home. You work the nightshift and you're probably tired as hell by now."

"I'm fine. I can carry on, what do you need doing?"

"Shad, if you need a wage rise, I can offer one. But I really think you should go home."

"My wages are fine, but I have nothing to do at home and-"

She was cut off suddenly by a scream. It wasn't a playful scream, like what you would expect in a children's diner. It was full of pain and regret.

Shad ran straight to where the three kids had been playing when she was working. The animatronics were still deactivated and lifeless. Another scream echoed through the pizzeria, but it came from behind the wall.

"Where are they?" The manager had finally caught up with her.

"I don't know... I would have said that it came from behind the wall, but as far as I know, there is no room behind here? And it sounded like it was still inside..."

"I dont think there is a room behind there. I mean, if there is, there's no way of accessing it. I regularly go through the vents myself..."

They stood there, before a scratchy voice echoed through the vents, and a creepy, quiet and psychopathic voice followed after.

"S. A. V. E. T. H. E. M"

"You can't"
