Chapter 8 ✰ Shadows of the past

Emma sighed when she looked up to Killian. He was sleeping peacefully. She smiled. She never felt so lucky before. He stole her heart a few years ago but he's still doing it every day. She loves him with every piece of her body. She loves him so much that it hurts. He snored a bit which made her giggle. She stared at his face. Even when he's fast asleep and snoring, he seems so perfect.

She stared at the ceiling. She would never understand how he could have lived on a ship for all those years. She hates the wobbling and it wakes her up every time. Maybe you get used to it but she couldn't imagine. A gust of wind made her shiver. She heard a soft cracking. There was only one shelf on the Jolly Roger which made that sound and she realized they weren't alone.

Instead of waking him up, she pulled on his shirt and sneaked out of the cabin. She closed the door as quiet as possible and when she turned around she bumped onto someone. She stiffened all over her body and a little scream escaped her mouth. The shadow bent over to her and then she realized.... 'Neal!' She yelled both excited as surprised.

'How's that possible!?' She yelled again. 'Sshhh!' Neal put her finger on her lips. 'Be quiet. I don't want him to wake up'. He stared at her t-shirt. 'You guys are a couple now?'. Emma nodded but she didn't mention the fact that they were married. 'He's unbelievable. Always gets what he wants'. Neal sounded a bit jealous. He gestured Emma to follow him. She hesitated but followed him to deck and sat down on the wooden railing.

'Are you going to tell me what you're doing here? How the hell is it even possible?!'. Neal walked closer to her and hugged her. 'I missed you Emma. Zeus gave me a second chance. Just like he did with Hook'. He stared at his feet. 'I know it's difficult for you and Henry, Emma. I just wanted you to know that I'm here for you.'

Emma shivered all over her body. She was only wearing Killian's shirt which was way to cold in winter. Neal reached his jacket to her. They talked a while about their memories and how Neal was able to come back. He helped Zeus to defeat another one of his 'God-brothers' and in return he could go back to his old life. Emma smiled. 'I'm glad you're back, Neal'. She felt she really ment that. She'd missed him, her buddy in crime... Literally.

She looked down on her watch. The one Neal gave her years ago. 'I should go back to...' '...Hook, I know'. Neal finished her sentence. She heard the dissapointment in his voice. She hugged him and bent over to kiss him on the cheek. Neal did the exact same thing which made them touch each others lips. They both blushed.

'I - I should go now!' Emma ran back to Killian's cabin. She closed the door behind her and leaned with her back against it. She thought about the little kiss she shared with Neal. She definitely felt something. She stared at Killian who was still asleep. The love of her life. Her true love. Tears filled up her eyes.
