The next few days were very difficult for Emma. Killian's health has declined and there was nothing she could do about it. She was planning their escapes for days now and made up a plan. She didn't know if Killian was feeling good enough to do it, but waiting longer will make their chances smaller. It had to happen today.
Killian woke up slowly as Emma was kissing his cheek. 'We have to leave while we can. Do you think you can handle it?' she asked. 'I think I can, but how do you want to do that? It's not like we have a key or something.' he said sarcastic.
Emma shook her head. 'No, but I have this' she said as she showed him the sharp tool she made. 'How did you get that? he asked awe. 'You may be a pirate, but I'm a former thief' she grinned. He smiled weakly.
She moved towards the door and tried to open it with the sharp tool. After a few moments and a lot of scolding, she finally heard a loud cracking. Emma slowly opened the door and looked out. She was expecting to get caught, but the hallway was empty.
Emma crept carefully out of the place where they were kept as Killian followed her behind. The smell of fresh air made her feel a lot better than she felt before. The hallway was small and dark and they both started to run. Killian wasn't in a good shape, but he tried to hide it.
After a few minutes he collapsed upon the ground. As Emma helped him on his feet she heard footsteps coming closer. She pulled Killian into a room with her as she was searching for a place to hide. 'There!' she said soft while pointing. Over in the corner was a set of boxes.
She pushed him into the small space and slid behind him. The footsteps stopped and there was a huge cry of anger. 'I think he found out we're gone...' he whispered. Emma giggled. 'Do you think?' she asked sarcasticly.
Emma pulled Killian out of the small space. As they where about to leave the room, there where footsteps again. They slipped back behind the boxes just as the door of the room opened. The footsteps where heading towards them.
She felt her heart racing and her palms all sweaty. They both held their breaths as the feet moved to the center of the room. The person paced around an stood still before the boxes. She could almost hear Killian's heart beating. After a few seconds he spun and left, while slamming the door behind him.
The air whooshed out of their lungs. Killian took a shaky breath. 'That was close...' he said. Emma slid out from behind the boxes and helped him out. Footsteps rushed towards the room again, but there wasn't enough time to go back to their hiding spot. She pulled Killian into a shadow beside the door.
The kidnapper entered the room and searched it. 'I swear I heard something...' he yelled to someone else. 'We have to tell Ruth!' the otherone answered. 'Are you kidding me? That Jones-lady will kill us! We have to find them!' he yelled back. Killians eyes widened but Emma didn't notice. She pushed him towards the door and their kidnapper turned around and saw them.
'Run!' Emma screeched. She could feel the kidnappers breath on the back of her neck. She ran faster but she heard Killian close behind her. His heart was pounding and he started to feel light headed but he pushed on.
After running for a while they where starting to lose the kidnapper. They could hear him struggling for breath and slowing down. They slowed down for Killian, but soon they heard a scream. 'Stop! You'll never get away!' the kidnapper screamed.
They started running again. The hallway was blurring as they where taking step by step as fast as they could. They could smell trees and fresh air and a wind was blowing down their faces. 'We're almost there!' she yelled.
She saw he was pulling in a lot of effort to get out of here. More effort than his body could take right now, but she admired his determination to get out of here. One step away. Almost there!
The kidnapper reached out, snatched Killian back and pulled him into the darkness again.
