Chapter 12 ✰ Lovers And Best Friends

The next morning Henry woke up early. He was as excited as a little puppy. 'What's going on with him?' Killian asked Emma while they were getting ready for breakfast. 'I told him about Neal yesterday. I thought he deserved to know. Today they're going to see each other again' explained Emma. Killian nodded.

Emma walked over to him. 'We've talked about this Killian. Please don't be jealous'. Killian raised his eyebrow. 'No, why should I be jealous of the man you have a child with?' he responded with a sarcastic tone. Emma rolled her eyes and placed the plates on the table. 

She walked back to him and grabbed his hand. 'What's going on with you lately? You don't have to be jealous. We're married, remember?' she said while pointing at her finger. He smiled. 'I know. It's just... I lost a woman I love before and... I can't lose you too. I don't want to be the possessive husband or something, but I just don't like him around you'.

She pressed a kiss on his cheek. 'He's Henry's dad. He has to be around. Not for me, but for Henry. He deserves to know his father'. Killian nodded. 'It's not that I don't understand.. I don't want to take that away from Henry. It's just difficult because of my history with him.' He stared down at his feet. Emma stroked a hand over his face. 'You mean that you were supposed to be his step dad?' she said before even thinking about it. They never talked about Neal or Milah.

Killian sighed. 'I don't feel it that way and he never would have accept me. Besides that he always thought that I was the one who killed Milah.' He stared down to his tattoo. The one on his wrist with the Dark One dagger through a heart with Milah's name on it. Emma grabbed his face. 'Don't be so hard on yourself Killian. You know what really happened and you showed your love for her by trying to get your revenge. Love can do weird things with people.'

She felt a weird kind of pain in her heart when she talked about Milah. It's almost like she was jealous. Killian lifted her chin right up and stared into her eyes. 'I would do the same for you, love. I loved Milah, but the day I met you was the day I could finally let go of my revenge. I already told you in Neverland, but it's still true.' 

Emma smiled. The jealousy made place for an overload of love. 'The day I met you I betrayed you and I hated you for a while. Now I know that our first kiss changed my life four years ago. I don't think I can ever tell you how much you mean to me. You're my lover and best friend and I can't imagine what things would be like if I hadn't met you.'

He pressed his lips on hers, kissing her deeply and intoxicating. She moaned and curled her fingers around the hair at the back of his head. 'I'm nothing without you, Swan' he whispered. 'You have no idea how strong you are, Killian.' She kissed him again but a knock on the door interupted them.
