'Ruth is your mom?' Emma couldn't believe what she just heard. He didn't talk that often about his family but he never mentioned his mom before.
He nodded. 'Her name is Alice Ruth Jones and yes she is.'
'But... how can she be alive?' she asked while grabbing his hand.
'I don't know, but my dad once found a way to outrun time so I think she found hers.'
She carresed his face. 'Tell me about her, I want to know more about your beginnings'
He smiled but she knew it was a fake one. 'She was a great mother actually. She stayed with me as long as she could but one day she was gone. My dad told me she passed away, but I'm not so sure about that anymore.'
'Why do you think that?'
He swallowed. 'I... I was an accident. My dad never wanted me, but my mom was different. They split up after my birth and my dad took Liam with him. My mother took care of me. After 5 years they got back together and everything was fine until the day she was gone.'
'What happened after that?' she asked while still holding his hand.
'My father took us with him on his ship. We sailed and we loved it. One day he was gone and trade us and his ship for his own freedom...'
Emma could see the pain in his eyes while he was telling the story. 'I'm so sorry, Killian. I knew your history was painful, but you really have to open up to me. There is just one thing I don't understand...'
'What's that, Swan?' he asked
'If your mother was so full of love about you... Why did she do this to us?'
'In the end she left me, so I think she have some reasons. It doesn't matter, Emma. I don't want her or my dad in my life.'
'You won't give it another chance if you could?' she asked.
He shook his head. 'No, I was pretty good on my own for all those years. Liam raised me but I've lost a lot in my life. I used to wish that I was never born, so I wouldn't have to deal with the fact that no one wanted me in their lives.' he said while tears welled up in his eyes.
She took him in her arms. 'Hey silly, I do want you in my life. I need you in my life. Never forget about that.'
He caressed her cheek with his thumb. 'You're the best thing that ever happened to me, Swan. I can say that Karma was a real bitch to me for letting me stay in Neverland for ages, but after all I'm glad that happened. Otherwise I had never met you.'
'That's called fate' she said and pressed a kiss on his forehead.
'I don't believe in fate. Liam always told me this: You're the master of your fate and the captain of your soul.' he said while taking a look at Liam's ring on his necklace.
'I know you're a hell of a captain but sometimes you can't control it and that's when the best things are happening. Look at us. We weren't a predestined love story, but we survived and have chosen each other over and over again. That's fate, Killian.'
'I'm just really happy with you in my life and don't you dare to risk that ever again' he said with a fake-angry look on his face.
She laughed. 'Or what? I have to walk the plank?'
'That's so 1800, Swan.' He kept his serious face for a while but bursted into a laugh eventually.

A/N: So I was writing about Hooks mom before the episode with some information about her aired last friday. I named her Ruth but her real name turned out to be Alice. I didn't want to change it completely, so she's Alice Ruth Jones in my story now. I'll explain more in upcoming chapters, but this is enough to know for now.
