Ling screamed in pain, his whole body was being broken down and reformed again and again, turning him into one of the very creatures that they were trying to defeat, it was a horrifying sight. 

“Ling!” Edward may have appeared to not care but he still considered the prince a friend.
Toshiro eyes flashed red in anger for a moment. He gritted his teeth and prepared for his next move. He slammed his automail foot against Envy enough to startle him, he retaliated by attempting to punch him but the ice alchemist knocked his head backward and hit Envy’s, the chimera’s fangs became useful as he damaged Envy’s hand with them. (it means what I said.) and his claws dug painfully on the hand that loosned its grip. He was free,now to get Edward and Ling. With simple movements, an icicle sliced through the rock holding Edward down.

"Get Ling!" He ordered, "I'll distract the old man." Edward didn't hesitate.

The white-haired alchemist and 'Father' watched each other, trying to guess the other's next move.

"Come now, why fight like this when it's all for nought, all you humans will die some day, why bother fighting it, just give up."

"I'll give up when I feel like it." The two faced off again, ice against sand. In the background, yelling could be heard from Edward's attempts.

"Storm, this isn't working!" Edward called out.
"Then time for plan B." He answered back. "Cover your eyes!" Without looking back at Edward, he grabbed a flash-bang from his pocket, unclipped it and slammed it into the ground. Lights exploded from the tiny device and smoke filled the air.
As the homunculus' eyesight returned there was no sign of the alchemists.

Toshiro and Edward huffed and shot forward, the ice alchemist holding tightly to the metal alchemist's hand. They gritted their teeth and jumped over corpses of chimera and raced to the opening of the underground tunnel.

Light steamed from the gate and soon enough they hit fresh air.
They panted hard and took off again, hoping to put as much distance between them and the monsters below.

"Oi!" Edward huffed breathlessly "Put this on, you're tail is showing."

Toshiro nodded and pulled the red coat close. Together they ran for safer grounds

“What?!” Edward muttered in shock.
Both Toshiro and Edward were standing the now empty office that formerly belonged to Roy Mustang. In front of them, a soldier walked off, cursing himself for having to deliver the bad news.

“So, the team’s gone huh?” Toshiro was still blinking in surprise, not shocked but a bit shaken at how fast it happened.
“And they send us North of all places.”

“That may be because of my work there.” Toshiro shrugged as they slowly walked out of the military building.

“Well that may work out, you know people there don’t you?” Edward looked at him questioningly.

Toshiro scoffed, “Yea, but North is not a place for people with automail.” For emphasis, he knocked his hand on his left leg.
Edward fell face first, feet in the air as he groaned miserably.

They both ended up at Edward’s apartment, they froze as they heard talking inside. Both alchemist looked at each other and then at the door again. Toshiro pulled Edward’s cloak closer to prevent it from hindering him while Edward fashioned a sword from his automail.

“3….2….1” they mouthed to each other.

‘BANG!’ the door swung wide open revealing a metal armour yelling to someone behind him. “- won’t just leave them!” The armour moved to march forward but stopped at the sight before him.

There stood the very two people he was about to go searching for, both in a fighting stance.

“Well I’ll be damned.” The ice alchemist was the first to stand. “We were wondering where you were.”

“Hey Al-” before Edward could finish his sentence, the large armour grabbed both the alchemist and crushed them against his metal plate in the form of a hug, both alchemist yelping loudly, the ice alchemist denying that later.

“I was worried you idts.” Alphonse NEVER swore, it meant that his statement was as true as solid gold.

"It seems we have alot to talk about." Toshiro stated as they walked inside.
