As a Colonel within the army, it meant that you had to be able to support a team, this team usually consisted of men hand-picked by the Colonel himself or the Furhur if the situation calls for it. A team was only a part of it, depending on the location of said team, a trump card is needed. This trump card consisted of the alchemist- a person who transforms or creates something through a seemingly magical process. The Colonel, team and alchemist must, at some point, be able to work almost as one mind, to become one on the battlefield while maintaining professional relationships. That is why, within the military, losing or separation from one’s team is considered taboo and even sometimes a disgrace, for the Colonel himself, it feels like a permanent separation from his family.

For an alchemist, those who do not train as a soldier, though not common, usually enter the military quite young, that is why they are more than often without out a team and are commonly just called for duty by any team. They are usually on their own, that is why, upon joining a team they are consisted the baby brother/sister of the team. Losing or being separated from the team is equivalent to being removed or lost from the family. Within the military, alchemist are considered no more than tools to the higher ups, sometimes they are not even considered human, that is why many alchemist do not make it to ripe old age. The loss of an alchemist or an alchemist losing his/her team is must more painful than many realise, even if said alchemist does not even know it.

(a/n: I really don’t even know the purpose of this opening, I just felt like being extra *shrugs* no regrets)

Storm sneered as he walked through the building, he didn’t know why, for some reason walking here irritated him. It bothered him to know that Mustang was here and worst of all, he was with another team. So that was it, just separated from his team and he gives no fight? So not the Mustang he knew. He guessed it bothered him that he may never see the team as it was once was, the same team that he saw built before him, the same team that stood together through thick and thin and the same team that stood with him despite the circumstances. Knowing that said team was so separated that they themselves many never cross paths in the working world and the same team that at the end of the day was a family.

Mustang without out his team was so…… wrong, not natural, so out of place, and for the love of him he could not understand why this irked him so much!!!!!
So not the point of him being here, so off track. He pushed open the doors that lead to Mustang’s new team and consequently, to Mustang himself. He tried to keep a straight face, face covered by his hood or not, as he walked through the corridor-like office and not scowl as he flashed his alchemist badge as the officers that now worked with Mustang as his ‘new team’. Despite having passed through the army and as such having a decent age to carry, to Toshiro they were no more than irritable children that tried to boast of the smallest of achievements just to be recognised. Behind his back he could hear the whispers of his presence.

‘An alchemist? Are were finally getting one? I thought we didn’t need any of those wierdos?’

‘Weirdo? Are you a special kind of idiot? That’s the Ice-Storm Alchemist himself, here in our office!’

‘who?’

‘One of the most dangerous, destructive alchemist, they said he used to be an assassin.’

‘uh huh.’

‘He used to work with Mustang and some other guy, I think he died the other day.’ At this Toshiro clenched his fist, ‘that’s not the point though, they said he once team up with Mustang in a dual alchemic fight and took out almost half an army!’

Not wanting to listen to any more of this mess, he opened the door to Mustang’s private office. Immediately he was meet with a voice, “I’m sorry Sir, you can’t be here without a proper reason.” Toshiro looked at Mustang’s new lieutenant and almost laughed so hard… if he was capable of it anyway. Mustang’s new lieutenant was a male figure, that pervert must be sulking in his chair so much right now. “Please state your rank stat.” He stood in front of Toshiro, completely blocking his view of Mustang, and he was sure Mustang wasn’t even bothering to look at him. So he make his presence known clearly.
