I Wasn't Aiming For You

Please forgive me.” The glowing alchemist whispered, his voice taking an almost icy-yet-kind tone.

“Forgive you?” Blackstone repeated, not quite understanding what was happening as he slowly backed away. Blackstone moved to grab Olivier’s hand and pull her away, but she refused to budge.

“Toshiro?” Olivier pulled a gun from her boot and aimed it at said alchemist, “What’s going on?”

“Toshiro?” Blackstone question, now learning the man’s real name for the first time.

“The alchemist, if we do nothing, they will die.” Toshiro stared at Olivier with unnerving red eyes, daring her to stop him, the rest of the world ignored for the moment as he tried to regain the trust of one of the most powerful women.

“Don’t freak, I was just making sure you’re still on our side.” Olivier eyes held an evil glint as she lowered the gun. “What the hell is happening?

“G-glowing, you’re glowing.” Blackstone stuttered, hand and eyes twitching.

“Blackstone… you’ve honestly seen me do worst.” Toshiro tilted an eyebrow at him, lips in a thin line.

“Glowing!?” Blackstone eyed him like a mad man.

A loud ‘TWAP’ was heard, Blackstone yelped and covered him head. “Get your head in the game, we don’t have time for this, you can question him later, alchemist and madman buckaroo first.” Olivier scolded him. Blackstone’s eyes lost their crazy look and became cold, he nodded and looked at the destruction around him.

The world seemed to finally come rushing in, the screams of the non-alchemists as they called for their loved ones, trying to understand what was happening, the firing of guns of the remaining soldiers holding whatever was remained of their fort, and the mad cackling of Father.

“Hope you have a plan.” Olivier glinted at Toshiro. “I’m almost out of ammo and you’re glowing.”

“Yes, but we don’t have much time. I’m going to need your total trust that you won’t shoot me.” Toshiro looked at Father as he stepped away from the two humans.

“Whatever you’re doing, do it quick!”

“FATHER!” Toshiro yelled, coat billowing out around him from the wind caused by the surge of power.

The mad cackling lowered. “You’re still alive?” Father turned his glowing eyes on him, “And people call me hard to kill.” He drawled.

“Won’t be so for long.” Toshiro looked around. So many alchemists he knew were on the ground, dying. Mustang, a worried Riza hanging over him, Edward, Mei, Toshiro’s heart clenched to see Alphonse’s armour still and broken on the ground.

“And what is a runt like you going to do.” Father taunted “You may have taken down my homunculus, destroyed my stones, and shown some fancy power, but that’s where it ends, you are nothing in the face of pure energy and alchemy!”

“Without me, you wouldn’t have pure energy!” Toshiro ripped his coat off him, letting his tail free, “My people created this pure energy.” He pulled his hair back and revealed his ears, “We are this, we are alchemy, we are energy, we…” the air grew cold around him, Toshiro whipped his hands out and dragon wings of pure ice seemed to burst from his back. “ARE SHIMIGAMI!”
With a mighty sweep of his wings downward, Toshiro took to the skies, “And it’s people like you who are worth nothing.”

“What are you going to do, blow me away?!” Father yelled, furious. With mad swipes of his hands, sand rose from the rubble, chasing the Ice-Storm Alchemist, the sand freezing and falling to the ground before it even reached, the air far too cold around the alchemist.
