Slow clapping filled the dead silence of the area. A low chuckle accompanied it, “Well, well, well, quite the fight I must admit, you humans are much more resilient than I originally thought you would be. I give you credit.” The person behind the voice slowly walked towards them, it was none other than Father.

Edward gritted his teeth, he wanted to check on Storm but there was no way he was taking his eyes off Father. Slowly, step-by-step, Edward inched towards the Ice-Strom Alchemist as Father surveyed the surrounding area. He was worried, Storm had showed no signs of waking and his white hair was slowly being dyed red by his injury.

“You humans, ever so destructive.” Father sneered as he watched the body of the furfur and the unconscious Scar. “Killing my children when they were only doing as they were told, like all good children should do.”

Edward couldn’t understand the audacity of this man, ‘Killing his children? They were killing us ‘humans’.’ As he opened his mouth to argue that, Roy Mustang and Hawkeye beat his to that with a blast of fire.

“Fullmetal, grab him, we’ll hold Father off!” Hawkeye yelled, referring to Storm.

In a smooth movement, he reached the Ice-Storm Alchemist. No amount of shaking could rouse the alchemist though, Edward resorted the dragging him by under his arms, thankfully he didn’t weight much. “What are we going to do?” he asked the pair as he settled Storm by Hawkeye.

“This is my fault, I shouldn’t have distracted him!” Mustang hissed, Edward didn’t like that tone, it sounded almost like despair and he was not having that, not right now.

“It doesn’t matter right now, what does is getting the hell** outta here with our lives intact!” Edward snapped, “So do you have a plan or not?”

Roy seemed the snap out of his pit of darkness, he nodded in thanks, eyes still scarily blank and grey, unlike the natural black.

“Ah, you humans, how you annoy me so!” Father snarled, this the first time any of them had seen any real emotion on him, “It seems I can’t kill you one by one, so I’ll just kill you all at once!” Father brought his hands up and the entire place shook, dust rained down on them. The building was coming down ... right on top of them.

Hawkeye did the most logical thing and dived bombed Mustang, using her body as a shield for him, his eyes opened wide in unseeing panic. The ceiling was coming down, Edward followed her idea and covered Storm with his own body, closed his eyes and his last thought being, “This is so going to hurt…” before the world turned silent.

‘COLD’ That was Edward’s first thought as sound registered in his ears. Then the feeling something breathing beneath him. Edward gasped and opened his eyes, hands pushing him up. He was meet with dazed teal eyes, sitting back, knees on either side of Storm’s waist, relief on his face and a grin on his face, “Oh, thank goodness you’re alive.” Storm said nothing, blinking hard as if to regain awareness of his surroundings, one off his hands gripping Edward’s human hand, fingers icy cold.

Edward’s words now registered to himself along with the thoughts, ‘How were they still alive. Mustang. Hawkeye.’ Allowing Storm to regain his bearings (boy did he know how much getting hit on the head sucked…) and ignoring their odd position, considering Storm did the same after the avalanche on Briggs mountain. Edward looked around them and gasped in awe. Covering them was a blue and white ice dome patterned with frost, ‘That’s how we’re still alive, he must have used alchemy at the last moment.’

To his side, Hawkeye pushed herself up and off Mustang, allowing him to sit up. Hawkeye looked at the dome and then at Storm, “Looks like you saved our a**es.” She grinned tiredly. Storm huffed and gave her a small smile. Then he looked at Edward questioningly with clear eyes as if suddenly realizing their position. Edward just grinned at him and winked before standing an puling Storm up with him with the hand still latched onto his wrist, finally Storm let go, flexing his fingers as if they had frozen and wisely not rolling his eyes as he looked at the dome and the people in it.

“As much fun as it has been to be in here.” He started as he pulled off his damaged, dusty coat and tying it around his waist, the end dragging slightly, “The fight’s out there and I wouldn’t mind seeing the end of it.” With his word, the three on them geared up, Edward with his alchemy and automail sword, Hawkeye with her seemingly endless supply of guns and ammunition and Mustang with his alchemy. With slow movement, he brought his hands above his head before swiftly bringing them downwards and outwards. The dome shattered like snow.
