Chapter Four Zoo Trip

Ealish stood in font of the bathroom mirror as she fluffed her long black hair. It wasn't fun being this small but she didn't hate it. Being just over six inches, Ealish was used to her height. She could honestly only wear doll clothes and shoes. Though she didn't really see it as a terrible thing. At least her outfits weren't overly expensive or anything. And they fit pretty well when she got them on.

It wasn't easy to get shoes that fit her and were comfortable too. All she ever got to wear were plastic little heels. She sighed as she toyed with her hair. Make up would never be an option since there wasn't any brushes that would work for her. At least she had bathroom that was in working order. Her Mother gotten her everything she needed back home due to her 'disability'. And someone who was a big fan of hers got her this nice toy car. It didn't need a remote control to make it go. Just ran on a battery engine that needed to be repaired every nine months. Ealish could at least take a decent shower at home. Here she's going to have to use the sink. Despite what Mililani or Nalani say about the bathtub, she never really safe in it.

She sighed as she turned the water to her tolerable temperature. Then she washed up quickly and got dried off with the wash towel that was provided for her. And quickly got dressed in the only dress she ever owned. It was nice though. A really dark blue color with no sleeves or high collar. But it didn't show off more than what she was comfortable with either. Looking down at the plastic shoes she'd been given,she said,"I think today is going to be shoeless Friday. Since these shoes are the ugliest that I've ever seen."

Then she got herself down from the countertop without the shoes and called out,"Mililani! Can you come open the door for me please?"

"Coming!",Mililani shouted to her. Backing far enough away from the door, she smiled as her cousin opened it. Ealish said,"Thank you,Mililani."

"No problem.",her cousin said as they headed into the living room. Her cousin keeping in pace with her. Nalani was in her armchair with her knitting a hat. Glancing up from her knitting,she said,"Good morning,Ealish."

"Good morning,Nalani.",Ealish said. She watched as Kao was cleaning the house with his usual dust rag and spray. He turns his head around quickly to peer down at her. Waving one of his metal arms,he said,"Good morning,Ealish!"

"Good morning, Kao. Getting ahead of your chores there, eh?",Ealish asked. Climbing onto the couch, she glances over at the T.V with slight wonder. All that was on was something about creatures being found in the ocean near India lately. Nothing to really be concerned of or to be interested in. Kao said,"Nah. I've been working for just a few minutes or so. Going to make food in a little bit if anyone's hungry."

"Nah. I'm going to grab a muffin on my way to work.",Mililani said as she got her purse off the hook. Waving to both her sister and cousin, she said,"See you guys later."

"See you later.",both girls said. Ealish pushes buttons on the remote and turned it to a horror show. It was about the top ten serial killers of the past thousand centuries. Most were men from different walks of life. Each were completely disturbing in how they went about killing others. A shiver traveled down her spine when one of the killers was said to have eaten little children.

Nicknamed the "Witch",she would lure them in with promises of warm food, a place to stay and clothes. She would wait until they fell asleep and tie them up. Then she would put them in her oven to bake them alive. Only two victims ever got away from her.

A brother and sister both age nine. The boy's name was Hai and the girl's name was Gen. Their last name was Chiu. And both were returned to their father.

Nalani said,"That sounds oddly familiar, I wonder how long ago that was."

"I think they said it happened about three years ago.",Ealish said. Looking over at her cousin, she asked,"So what are you going to be doing today?"

"I thought about going down to the zoo today.",her cousin said. Putting down her knitting, she asks,"You wanna come with?"

"Sounds like fun. I'm in.",Ealish said. Her cousin nodded as she went to get her purse from it's hook. Fishing out the keys, she walked over to her cousin and picked her up. Nalani said,"Hopefully the lions will wake up. Unlike last time. Nothing more fun than seeing sleeping fat big cats."

"Indeed.",she said. Climbing into Nalani's pocket, her cousin walks out the door and to the car. In a slightly amused voice, Nalani said,"Kinda cool that you don't need to use a booster seat."

"Yeah. Eightteen year old woman in a booster seat. That'd be completely lovely.",Ealish said. Her eyes roll as they pulled out of the driveway. She said,"I'm kind of happy that I'm just six inches. At least I can do stuff normal people can't."

"Like wear doll clothes and drive toy cars?",her cousin quips. Glaring up at her,she said,"Oh shut the hell up."

"Just saying."

~(A half hour later)~

Ealish climbed onto her cousin's shoulder as they made their way through the zoo. They watched as penguins splashed around their home playfully. Each of them were playing a weird game of tag. Or at least that's what it seemed to the girls. Nalani pointed out a man with balloons satanding on the other side of the zoo. He was holding at least five red ones and a few blue with some yellow. She asked,"You think we can get a few for Kao? We did kinda leave him back home."

"Yeah. Some red ones.",her cousin said. Walking over to the man,she paid him at least five knotches and three scrills. Ealish considered grabbing one for herself but figured she'd float off if she did. Nalani said,"I dunno if you would. I mean people usually put things around your weight to keep balloons from floating."

"Well. Better safe than sorry, right?",Ealish asked. Her cousin rolled her eyes as she said,"Yeah, yeah. I know your right. Kao is going to love these."

"Yeah.",she said. Then they continued onto the next part of the zoo and smiled as they watched birds play. Some were fat. Some were wonderful in color. And some were just flat out creepy. Then they went to go get some food from the small food court they had. Nalani got a salmon sandwich while Ealish just got some chips. Which she shared with her cousin when she realized they were too big and too many for her. When they were both full,they decided to go home instead of continue on. After all it was getting late and Ealish was getting tired. So they got up and left.

When they got home, Kao was cleaning the dishes from breakfast. He began putting them away as he said,"Hello Nalani and Ealish. Where were you two?"

"We were at the zoo. Got you some red balloons too.",Nalani said as she held out the balloons. Kao puts the other plates into the cupboard and quickly takes the balloons away. He scans them as he said,"Pretty, oh so pretty! Thank you!"

"No problem. Maybe tomorrow we can go to the Mall.",Ealish said. She smiled when the bot made a chirping noise and said,"Yeah! Been meaning to see if they got those new telescreens in yet."

Both of them giggled as Kao went and fussed over cleaning up the laundry. He was always estatic to be doing anything else than cleaning. Especially shopping.
