replaying the mistakes of yesterday
the conversations that shoulda, coulda been made
we too old to be young and foolish
yet we send each other thru it
emotional rides, cutting and reopening wounds
sending each other reminders of what we USE to dois this the depth of ourselves
holding on to pain and regret...
showing that if nothing else we got that
so we sit on the merry go round of change
never mending a thang
signifying growth...
simply ‘cause we don’t hang or speak no more
sucking our teeth every time we meet
never questioning the example we set
showing our kids to forgive never forgeti’m looking at myself, got me questioning and spirit perplexed
i ain’t right either, often instigating the mess militia
i’m replaying the words I AM MY BROTHERS KEEPER
amounting people up to reason, season, lifetime
people come and go, others keep passing by
be positive and soak up the lessons with your timethose that stay are a blessing
for those loves that become strangers...
is it enough to just have a memory
when it seems to replay daily
their words, their smile, their thoughts of youahh remember, we hurt to make you regret
we do it so you will never come back
yet I’m the peace keeper
just trying to overflow my love to youThese thoughts are my own self neglect
Choices I’m making on the daily, causing my mission to wreck
Yet I’m fire when I’m focused
It’s time to set my face and refocus
