chapter fifty five

I wanna squish his little face ugh

"Look at you, you're glowing!" My mum excitedly cheered as she hugged me. I giggled, pulling out of the hug. Her eyes traveled down to the small yet quite big bump - you can definitely tell!

"I'm so proud of both of you," Her hand cupped my chin as I held her other hand. She then hugged Brad, both of them excited to see each other since it's been a while.

"How are you?" Brad asked my mum as she took off her coat, Brad taking it and hanging it up like the gentleman he is.

"I'm great! How are you? How was the first bit of tour?" My mum asked with a huge smile on her face. She's so excited, bless her.

"It was incredible! I just wish I knew what was going on here so I could've done something for Maddie," I looked at him, blushing.

"You definitely have the right man here," My mum whispered to me before walking into the living room. Brad and I looked at each other and laughed - she's definitely not wrong though.

Brad

I watched as Maddie spoke to her mum, her cheeks glowing a pinky-red and her hair looked a lot lighter too. Apart from feeling down and tired, she looks so beautiful as always.

The whole conversation they were having was completely muffled to me. All I can do is stare and admire her, her beauty too beautiful to ignore. And just to think, in about six months time our little baby will arrive. Finally!

"I'll be back in a minute," Maddie smiled as she exited the room. Kate looked over at me and smiled.

"So.. what do you think the baby will be?" Kate asks.

"I'm hoping it's a girl, but a boy would be lovely too. I don't really mind as long as the baby is healthy," I grinned, nodding my head.

"Aw. I can imagine a little boy and a little girl, both with brown curly hair and hazel eyes," Kate sighed and put her hand to her chest. That sentence made me tingle all over.

"I'm very excited," I chuckled with a hint of nervousness.

"I can sense you're nervous, that's normal. I know how David was when I was pregnant with Maddie, he wouldn't leave me alone!" Kate laughed. I laughed with her because I can relate to that, I'm always asking if Maddie is okay, but all I do is worry.

"To be honest, I do that with Maddie. I constantly ask if she's alright or if she needs anything. She says she finds it cute?" I reply.

"It is cute! It just shows how much you care!" Kate seems just as excited as us, to be honest I'm not surprised! She's always asked Maddie when she's going to settle down and now she can finally stop asking.

"I guess so," I giggled. Just then Maddie came back with a small smile on her face. She sat in between me and Kate, she sighed and rested her head on my shoulder.

"I can go if you're tired," Kate said as she rubbed Maddie's arm. Maddie frowned.

"But I want you here," Maddie whined.

"Hunny, you're tired and you need rest. I'll go and leave you to sleep - catch up with yourself, okay?" Kate said as she stood up.

"I'm sorry, mum," Maddie frowned.

"Don't be! Call me when you feel better and we'll go out, yeah?" Maddie nodded and smiled.

"I'll see you out," I stood up, carefully standing up so I wouldn't hurt Maddie. I walked Kate to the door and opened it for her.

"See you later!" Kate said as she waved at me.

"See you!" I waved back before closing the door.

I walked back into the living room to see Maddie asleep on the couch. I grabbed the blanket that rested on top of the couch and laid it over her to keep her warm.

While Maddie slept, I spent about an hour or two in the studio - at home of course. Although it's small, it's nice to be in. It's a nice atmosphere, especially when a song is finished, it sounds amazing in here because of the speakers and padded walls. The wall is also soundproof - which is good for when the baby is born - also Maddie too.

I strummed calmly on the guitar, picking at the random cords. I'm not trying to make a new song, I'm just strumming out of boredom. It's fun though.

But suddenly, I pluck a few cords which sound good - great, even. I play them again, adding a couple more to create a small tune. I tap my foot gently off the floor, nodding my head to the rhythm of my foot. My hair fell from my head and touched my face, tickling it, but I ignored it at the moment.

I start to hum along, trying to figure out some lyrics for this. Now this sounds good I'm determined to finish it. This could be good!

After I play the small melody I write down the cords in the order I played them in. I then recorded it and added a soft beat behind it - not too harsh or full-on, just a small, soft beat. I smile proudly and nod my head while biting my lip. I'm happy with this for now - hopefully it turns out to be a good little tune.

I walk out of the studio and close the door behind me. I exhale to release any stress and slowly walk towards the living room where Maddie fell asleep.

I walk in to see Maddie still asleep on the couch, the blanket still over her body and Pip sleeping at the end of the couch. I walk over to her and kiss her head, but I notice her temperature is unusually high. That's weird? I hope it's a normal thing to go through during pregnancy.

Maddie started to wake up so I stayed kneeling next to her with my hand in her cheek, caressing it. She sends me a smile which relieved me a bit.

She's fine, Brad! It's probably that bloody blanket you put on her!

"How are you feeling?" I asked, smiling at her and stroking her hair away from her bare face.

"A bit warm but I'm okay," She smiled back.

Maddie sat up and removed the blanket from herself and put it back where it was before. Pip jumped off the couch and lay on her bed instead.

"I have another scan next week, I think, do you want to come?" Maddie asked as she cuddled up to me.

I froze. I never knew a question could ever make me feel all of the emotions possible..

I'm going to see our baby for the first time on a screen! I'm going to see him or her!

Maddie looked up at me, not expecting my silence.

"Brad?" She asked.

"Yes. Yes! Of course I'll come! I wouldn't miss it for the world," I held her closer to me as she cuddled into my body. I held her close as if I never wanted to let go.

"I knew you'd say yes," I smiled widely and kissed her head. Maddie kissed my cheek, giggling at the slight blush that spread across my cheeks.
