Today is finally the day!

Lily is finally being discharged from hospital today, which also means we will be announcing her arrival later on this afternoon. After days of trying to get the nursery set up and finished, we finally got everything in place and it looks perfect. The walls are painted a baby pink colour, but one wall is left white, the high chair, pushchair, baby carrier, etc. got delivered earlier this week.

While I finished getting ready, Brad put the baby carrier in the car and strapped it in, ready for Lily. I took my gaze away from myself and looked around our room, smiling at how happy this day will make me. I exit our bedroom and peek my head into Lily's nursery; it looks adorable. I'm proud of what we did, it's just perfect. Everything is in place and ready for when she comes home.

"Mads! You ready?" Brad shouts up the stairs as he stands with the keys in his hand, his other hand rested in his pocket. He held a big smile on his face as I came in sight.

"I'm ready!" I squealed excitedly, while rushing down the stairs. I run into Brad's arms and nuzzle my face in his soft hair.

"I'm so excited, Brad!" I giggle into his ear. He wrapped his arms around me and agreed with me.

"I am too!" He let go of me, so I made my way outside and got in the passenger seat of the car. I turned around and saw the white baby carrier strapped in the back. Brad locked the front door, checked it, then sat himself in the drivers seat.

"Hurry up!" I'm so excited I can't cope with myself. I actually feel like my heart is going to explode.

"I just got in the bloody car!" Brad replied, trying to defend himself - but only ended up laughing at the both of us.

"Have you got a change of clothes for her?" I asked after our laughter died down.

"I put some in a bag in the back." Brad said.

Brad drove the car out of the driveway and on the road of the street, his hand on my thigh while the other one steered the car. We both have huge smiles on our faces.

Once we arrived at the hospital all giddy and excited, Emily had come down to get everything sorted out and to do whatever we need to do so we can let Lily come home. We signed a few papers before being told to wait outside of the room while the midwife removes the tubes and wires from Lily and makes sure she's healthy enough to breathe on her own.

We both sat on the uncomfortable, metal chairs outside the room with the baby carrier on the end seat, ready for Lily. I started to get irritated and impatient, which caused me to tap my foot.

The sound of the door opening made my head snap up, I saw Brad do the same. Standing in front of us was Emily with a tiny Lily in her arms, wrapped in a pink blanket in a cocoon shape so she can keep warm.

I immediately stood up and smiled, Emily smiling at how happy Brad and I look.

"She's all yours now!" Emily beamed as she handed Lily over to me. She was lighter than I thought. I held her close to my chest, holding her with my stronger hand while my other hand lightly caressed her rosy red cheek.

It's my first time holding her, and it feels amazing.

I removed my hand from her face and held her with both arms, the awful fear of dropping her hid in the back of my mind.

"Can I hold her?" Brad asked, his voice cracking. He never took his eyes off her since she came out with Emily.

He's going to be a great dad.

I nod, carefully handing her over to Brad. His smile as wide as ever, his eyes filled to the brim with tears, his hair flopped over his forehead as he gazed at Lily in awe.

While he held her, I decided to take a quick photo. Brad never noticed though, he was too fascinated by her. He whispered things to himself, his finger lightly touched her soft skin as she slept in the warmth of the blanket.

"Let's get her home." Brad said as he looked up, his eyes glistening in the light. I can tell he wants to cry, with happiness, of course. I nodded in agreement.

Brad gently placed her in the baby carrier and wrapped the blanket around her so she wouldn't get cold. Brad fastened her in and pulled up the hood of the carrier, grabbed the handle and lifted the carrier and Lily off the seat.

I put my hand over my mouth as I got another glimpse at her. She's just so small and adorable! I can't wait until we get home.

"Congratulations, you two. You are going to be amazing parents!" Emily said in a cheery manner. I hugged her and thanked her for everything.

We left the hospital and strapped Lily in the back of the car. Luckily, no paps were there.

I got in the back seat next to Lily, while Brad drove us home.

This is just the beginning.
