Jack's P.O.V.
I didn't want to see Matthew Springs at the moment, and made the storm in order to slow him down. I'd figured that if he couldn't see anything, he would stay home. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.
"Jack! Where are you! I know you're here!" he shouted out as I floated above him. "Stop this storm!"
With a shrug, I parted the snow around us as I landed behind him, causing him to turn around. "What? Why do you want to see me?"
"I told you to stay away from her. I thought we had a deal!" He grabbed me by my sweater, lifting me off the ground. "You were in my daughter's room!"
"Hey! Let me go!" I shouted, fighting his grip. "Let me go now, I don't want to freeze you!"
He lifted me a bit higher, giving me no choice. I grabbed his wrists and poked him with sharp shards of ice until he dropped me. As soon as he did, I jumped into the wind, making sure to keep my distance from him.
"What is this about? The frost on the window? Or that pile of snow that was inside the house?" I asked, hovering above his reach. "I haven't broken my end of the deal."
I noticed his glare from the corner of my eye as I looked away. "The deal was that you were not to have any physical contact with my daughter if I become a friend to you. You broke our deal, Jack!"
"I'm aware of the conditions, but under no circumstances did I break our deal. As you clearly stated, the deal was that I have no physical contact with her. I haven't been seen for nine long years by anyone, including your daughter. " I looked up at the wind, listening to it carefully before saying, "I can't waste anymore time arguing with you. Something's wrong."
Before he could ask what it was, I took off in the wind, searching the ground until I saw her. Cinnamon hair. Pale face. Fawn.
I didn't hesitate to part the snow, blocking the rest of the world's view of us. I stared at her for a second, wondering why she was out here, before picking her up. I knew she was shivering from the cold which only made me feel bad that I couldn't do anything to help her.
"Jack Frost?" she asked weakly, her eyes unable to stay open. I was surprised already by the fact that I could actually touch her, let alone speak to her, but was even more surprised when she got comfortable in my arms. Her head rested on my shoulder, making me wish I could be enough to warm her up.
I didn't know what to do. Should I get her home first, or tell her father? Maybe I could get them both home before they freeze to death.
Racing back to where I left Matthew, it took me a while to realize he was gone. Where did he go? I haven't seen him in the surrounding area. Maybe he went home?
"No, no. Please, leave me be." Fawn whispered as a tear appeared on her closed eyes. She was sleep talking, but I was concerned when I saw the face she was making. She looked afraid. Was she having a nightmare? "I haven't gotten to see him yet. I can't die here."
Panicking now, I decided she really had to get out of the cold. I flew back to the one place I can call home. Frost. I'm not so sure what I have, but maybe I could keep her warm there.
