Fawn's P.O.V.

As if almost instantly, the weather around us suddenly gotten colder. The fire went out, and all around, we couldn't stop ourselves from shivering. This type of cold couldn't have been normal. It had to have come from Jack, but why? Why would he make it even colder around here?

"Papa, what's going on?" I asked, rubbing my arms as I tried to stay warm. "Why did it get colder?"

He stepped outside and stared at the sky. "I don't think this is normal. Whatever was wrong, it's seriously hurting Jack. We need to find him and stop him. If anyone can stop this weather, it's Jack."

"No. I'll find Jack. You are going to stay home and try to stay warm."

"No. I'm not going to let my daughter go out alone. I'm going," Papa took one step before I pushed him back.

I stomped one foot angrily and shouted, "I'm going, and that's final! You almost froze out here, so you must be crazy if you think I'm going to let you go out again."

He met my eyes, surprised to see my determination. After a few seconds, Papa nodded. "When did you grow up?"

"Get inside and take care of yourself. Mama needs you more than she needs me right now." Following right behind him, I gathered my coat and began my journey outside. "Take care of yourself!"

Being on my own didn't scare me one bit. I followed the snow as best as I could, hoping to find the sweet blue eyes I know so well.

It was dark by the time I ended up at a frozen lake. Jack was laying on the ground while a dark figure stood above him. Fear crawled into my heart as the figure met my eyes.

"You have no business dealing with Fear. Leave now." I watched, unable to move as dark shadows lifted Jack into the air, disappearing into his body. Jack made a pained face before opening his eyes.

Those eyes. They used to be as blue as the winter sky. They weren't his eyes anymore. Jack stared at me with red eyes. Red as in the color of blood. It was terrifying to see this happen to him.

"Jack?" I asked questioningly. "Jack, what's going on?"

He held his hand out just as frozen spears shot out of his palms. "Get that thing away from my sight." I realized that I wasn't what he was aiming for. When I looked back, I heard a whimper as the snowhound laid there, struggling to breathe. Tears came to my eyes as I shook my head no.

"Jack! What have you done?!" I shouted, turning back to him. "How could you have done this."

"He isn't. Fear released that boy this instant!" An old voice shouted, making me look up to see Father Winter himself. "What has been done to you does not have anything to do with him. Release him at once!"

The man who Father Winter addressed as Fear shook his head no. "Why should I? I gave the boy everything he ever asked for. You are so cruel to him Father Winter, yet you continue to say you love him."

"Leave my precious child out of this. I love every child of Frost, and will never allow any harm to come their way."

"Liar." Jack turned to him and said, "you never told me the true reason why I'm here. I'm only here today because you felt pity for killing me. This power I hold, you want it for yourself. There was no true purpose for me."

"Jack, that's not true and you know it. I protected you for centuries. I've taken care of you since you first arrived at Frost."

Jack shook his head no furiously. "Protected me?! I was unhappy! You knew how lonely I felt, and yet, you chose to ignore my feelings. I was hated by everyone in Frost."

"But not everywhere! I like you, Jack! You're my friend, so please listen to Father Winter!" I called out. "I liked you ever since I was a little girl. You know this, so please!"

"You don't get it, Fawn. I finally know everything. I know my true story."

"No, you don't. Fear is only showing you lies. He lives to bring fear to everyone's lives," Father Winter shouted. "Fear loves to cause problems, so I apologize to you, dear boy, that you fallen victim to his lies. Come with me, and I'll show you the truth."

Jack looked over at Fear. I noticed that more shadow were seeping into his body, turning his eyes even brighter than they already were. At the blink of an eye, Father Winter fell to his knees, spitting blood as he shouted out in pain.

"Father Winter!" I shouted joining his side. "Oh my goodness. Jack, stop!"

"This is the end for you, Father Winter." All of a sudden, I was lifted up into the air. "Leave us now, Fawn, and don't get in my way."

"Jack! No!" I looked over to Father Winter as tears streamed down my face. "FATHER WINTER!!!"

I would never forget his final moment. Jack had walked over to him, gave him one last hug, before crushing him.
