Fawn's P.O.V.
There are so many things I couldn't explain. Why would Jack act this way? What was that dark shadows sinking into his body? Why couldn't I get through to him?
The wind had taken me back to Frost, leaving me there to face the others. The moment I had looked up, I noticed I was surrounded by pale faces, wondering if I was okay.
"Why did the wind bring back a human girl?" someone asked.
"Isn't this that girl who was with Jack?" another asked.
"What is she doing back here? Is this that brat's doing?"
Unable to handle all the questions, I stood up and ran. The only place I knew was Jack's small home, built away from any other person of Frost. As I ran, tears streamed down my cheeks as the sight of Father Winter and the snow hound's deaths replayed in my mind.
How can I stop someone who couldn't think straight for themselves? Will I be able to stop him? No. Of course I won't be enough to stop him. He's winter himself now, and no human could defeat winter...
"What's bothering you, child?" an old man asked, surprising me. "Time may just be able to stop those tears of yours."
Meeting the man's eyes, I looked him over once, taking in his presence. "Who are you?"
"I am known as Pakiž in some countries, Chronos in others. Personally, I prefer to be called Father Time." He looks around the house, taking in his surroundings before saying, " your time isn't over yet, Fawn. What are you doing here?"
I shook my head no, unable to believe that Father Time was standing right in front of me. "I was carried here by the wind. Jack told it to bring me here to Frost."
"Where is Jack? I assume he is with Father Winter?" he asked. Shaking my head no, he asked, "then where is the boy?"
"He's with a man named Fear. Jack wasn't acting like himself. He.... Jack killed Father Winter..."
Father Time nodded, a sad expression on his face. "I know the life spans of all who live in the world, including my dear friend, Father Winter. We both knew he would die today."
"But, what about Jack! Something's wrong with him!" I shouted as tears came to my eyes again. "Father Winter was the only one who knew how to save him, but he's gone. Fear is doing something to Jack, and it's hurting him!"
"Young lady, I know very well of Jack Frost's case. If what you say is true and he is around Fear, then Jack may be under the influence of nightmares. Unlike humans, nightmares do not affect us at night. They feed on power, using emotions to control the person's actions." He took a seat on Jack's bed as he said, "I was hoping that Jack would never have had to meet Fear. We tried to make sure of that when we exiled Fear."
Gathering up my courage, I took a seat besides him. "Will you tell me what happened and how I could save Jack?"
With a nod, he said, "I could tell you really care about him, and I'm sure Jack cares a lot about you. I've never seen that boy so interested in anyone before you came along. We would always catch him staring after you."
