Jack's P.O.V.
When I arrived back at Frost, I realized something strange. Everyone was staring at me, and to be honest, it was creeping me out.
"What's going on? Why is everyone staring at me like that?" I asked, trying to keep my distance from all of them. "I get that everyone hates me here, but this is just weird. Why are you all trying to scare me?"
Marcus was the one who walked over to me and threw an arm around my neck as if we were friends. Although, the look on his face made seem otherwise. "Come on, Jack. You have to take your place by Father Winter."
"What's going on? Why are you acting like this? Aren't you going to complain that it should be you sitting by Father Winter?" I asked suspiciously. As we walked by, the others kept trying to give me stuff, adding more and more to my own suspicion. "What's going on?"
Everyone ignored my questions, changing the subject or simply walking away. I was angry by the time we got to Father Winter. I didn't like this any better than when everyone tried to ignore my presence completely.
"Hello Jack. How are you enjoying the celebration?" Father Winter asked, smiling back at me as he sat down on the stage. "Do you like the music that the frost children are playing? It's your favorite."
I glared at him in return as I shouted, "what is going on?! Why is everyone acting like this?!" Without realizing, I had accidentally froze my surroundings, causing everyone to stare at me. "This isn't normal. I want the truth, and I want it now!"
"Jack, what are you talking about?" Father Winter asked, standing up as if he were going to walk over to me. I continued to glare at him, making him think twice about it. "It would help you more if we don't explain."
Shaking my head no, I stomped my foot angrily. The ice around me grew menacingly as the others backed away from the stage. I met Father Winter's eyes and said, "tell me the truth now. What are you hiding from me?!"
"It's not your business to know. What is it that's spiking your anger, boy?"
"What's spiking it? How about the fact that everyone's treating me different! I don't want to be acknowledged because of your order. How is any of this helping me?!"
"Jack! Calm yourself down!" Marcus shouted as he jumped onto the stage. "Looks like you need a time out." He charged for me, but without meaning to, sharp spikes shot up around him. Father Winter tried to stop it, but couldn't do it alone. "Stop it!"
As soon as I saw blood, I realized what I had done. Shaking my head no, I backed away from everyone. I wanted to get out of there, desperately wanted to escape. "What's happening to me?" I jumped into the wind, wanting it to take me far away.
