Jack's P.O.V.
When I had calmed down, I pulled away from Fawn, slightly embarrassed for having cried in front of her. I have to admit that several feelings were going through my heart. I miss the parents I had forgotten. I miss the simple, pleasant days when I could just laugh with Father Winter. I miss having fun just playing with the wind.
"Jack, Mother Nature has something very important to tell you. It might sound crazy, but it's the truth." Fawn took my hand before making me take a seat. "Listen carefully, okay?"
I looked at the others who just nodded, but I had to admit I was curious about this. "Alright? What is it?" I asked, taking the seat next to her as she squeezed my hand tighter.
"Jack, I'm sure that Fear already told you about your human life, but I need to tell you about your birth." Mother Nature took the seat in front of me, a small smile on her face. "Remember this, what I am about to tell you is all true. I would never lie to a dear child."
"I know you wouldn't lie, Mother Nature." I started to become a bit uncomfortable as all eyes stared back at me. It made me wish I could just disappear or for them to just look away. "What about my birth?"
As she began to explain what had happened, I couldn't help but feel confused. If Mother Nature was my real mother, then why did she let me believe that I was alone in this world? Why didn't Father Winter say anything to me either? This entire time... I had been with my father without even knowing it.
"Do you believe me, Jack?" Mother Nature asked, practically pleading for me to believe her.
I stayed silent with lack of words. I guess that explains why I'm strong enough to be Winter's successor. It also explains why I can play with the wind. I would have never guessed that I was actually the son of Mother Nature and Father Winter. How can I believe it?
"Is this why Fear wanted to kill me? Because I'm your son?" I asked quietly. "Is that why he forced me to kill Father Winter? He wanted Father Winter to be killed by his own son?"
"Yes. He had always been jealous of your powers, and because he had attempted to kill you before, we exiled him." Father Time patted my shoulder as he said, "we apologize that you had to find out this way, but it was time you knew the truth. We need you to understand who you are, and why you are so important to us all."
Unable to comprehend this all, I stood up and ran out of Father Winter's domain. It scared me that with each turn, something new came around to change my life. I ignored the calls from behind me as I continued to run, but eventually, Fawn was the one who stopped me.
"Jack, what's wrong? Please, tell us!" she called out. "Let me talk to you!"
I sat down in the snow, wrapping my arms around my legs as I waited for her. When she finally caught up to me, she stared down at me with a worried look in her eyes.
"I'm sorry for running off. I just got scared. How can I be their son when I'm just plain old Jack Frost? I haven't done anything to make them proud of me, but shouldn't I have known? Isn't there supposed to be some sort of feeling when you meet your parents for the first time?"
"Jack, it's okay. Now you know they are your parents, and you have made them proud. Father Winter has always been proud of you, Jack. Don't ever think there was a single minute where he wished you weren't his son. He loved you enough to sacrifice his life for you."
I looked up at her, knowing exactly how I can avenge my father. I have to rid the world of Fear himself. "Fawn, thank you for everything. I'm glad I got to meet such a kind girl like you, but now that I know who I am, I don't want to put you in anymore danger than I already had. I'll take you home."
She shook her head no. "I'm not as fragile as you may think I am, Jack. You of all people should know that, and besides, there's nothing you could say or do that will make me leave you. I love you, Jack."
I couldn't help but blush at hearing those three little words. My heart began to beat loudly, making me feel as if she could hear it too. Taking her hand again, I shyly kissed her. "Fawn, I love you too. That is exactly why I want you to be somewhere safe."
"What are you planning that you don't want me around?" she asked quietly. "I can help too, you know."
"I'm going to take down Fear. I'm going to show him that he can't mess with Frost. That he can't mess with me and steal my powers. He's going to learn that the power of winter will never belong to him, and the only way he could learn that is from a child of Frost." I let her go as I clenched my fists. "Fawn, if you want to come along, I need your help to convince the others to join me."
She nodded, smiled, and ran back to the others. As I watched her leave, I couldn't help but turn away. I stared back up to the moon in the sky as the wind blew around me. Snow seized to fall as I whispered,"You should never mess with me, Fear. I'm going to prove just what a child of Frost can do."
