Jack's P.O.V

As we walked down to the town square, I noticed how she would stare with her mouth wide open in wonder. Fawn became so excited with the little things Frost had to offer, and that made me feel warm on the inside.

I knew that, with every home we pass by, the people of Frost glared at me. It wasn't a secret that I wasn't well liked here, but I didn't let it bother me. I knew they were still mad about the incident that happened so long ago, but I didn't want to ruin Fawn's impression of my home.

"Jack, this place is amazing!" she said as she let her eyes scan the area. "I've never seen anything like it."

Just then, Marcus, one of the oldest members of Frost, walked over and shoved me. "What are you doing here, Jack! You know you're not welcome in Frost anymore!"

"I'm not? Is this because of what happened back then?" I asked sarcastically. "Let it go already, Marcus. If you have to complain about it, talk to Father Winter. Don't argue with me."

He grabbed my new sweater and picked me up off the ground, making me wonder why I never move away in time. I stared at him, unafraid, even as Fawn tried to get him to drop me.

"You're still just the same little, smart mouthed, twerp, aren't you? Even if Father Time changed your appearance, you're still that stupid, little, trouble making seven year old you were when you died."

I couldn't help it. I got angry enough that I grabbed his arm and began freezing him. Every part of him, except the arm holding me, was encased in ice. I struggled to escape his frozen grip until, I somehow managed to release myself.

"I am not a little kid anymore."

Suddenly, a new voice came from behind, making me jump. "You still act like one, Jack. Unfreeze him now."

I looked back to see Father Winter staring at me, looking disappointed. I nodded and made sure to defrost Marcus. He immediately charged after me, tackling me to the ground. Before he could hit me, Father Winter cleared his throat.

"Marcus, you didn't die at the age of seven like Jack did. I expect you to act like a responsible member of Frost." Marcus nodded, climbing off of me. "You should know the punishment well enough by now, so you have permission to go. " He nodded again, and walked away. "Why is it that you can't seem to stay out of trouble when you're alone, Jack?"

"He started it. I was just walking with Fawn when he came over and shoved me." I didn't start the fight, so why do I need a lecture. "Father, you have to believe me. I didn't start the fight."

"But you were still involved, Jack. That's what you're not understanding." He said, clearly frustrated now. "Take the human girl back where she comes from. I'll deal with your punishment when you get back."

I nodded, gathering her in my arms. I let the wind take us as close to the village as possible, hoping it was dark out. Luckily for us, it was dark, so no one would noticed her barely getting in.

"I'm sorry if I got you in trouble. Will I ever see you again?" Fawn asked with innocent eyes, as she climbed into her room by her bedroom window.

I didn't care how much trouble I get in. Fawn is the first person I found who actually likes me, and I don't want to give that up.

"Yeah, you'll see me again. I'm not so easy to get rid of," I said as I took her hand. With a final smile, I let her go and jumped out, hiding my disappointment as best as I could. I know how angry Father Winter is about me freezing Marcus, and why everyone in Frost hates me.

As I flew past the moon, a strange voice called out my name. I noticed something black on the ground, something tall, slender, and creepy looking. I flew down for a closer look, fully aware that the creature knew who I was.

"We finally meet, Jack Frost." The man turned around, showing me his pale, normal looking face. "The last time I seen you, you were still a little boy. Now, you're all grown up. Tell me, has Father Winter and Father Time been treating you well?"

I couldn't help but be curious as to how this man knew my name. I don't remember ever seeing him before. "How do you know my name? Have we met before?"

"You don't remember me? I wouldn't be surprised. You were still young at that time." With a smile, the man said, "I believe it was when you turned nine years old when we met? You were still training to be Jack Frost, and you wouldn't leave Winter for anything."

"Who are you?" I asked, trying hard to remember. After being around for so long, it's hard to remember everyone I've met, but you'd think I would remember someone as strange as this man.

"The name is Fear, and I used to be like you." He stepped closer to me, trying to fill up the gap between us. "I used to work along side Father Winter, a long time ago, until we had some different ideas."

Fear? I've never met Fear before, have I? How do I even know this it true?

"I know what you're thinking. How can I trust a stranger who says they know Father Winter?" he said, putting my thoughts into words. "The answer is to test me. I could tell you anything about Father Winter."

"Alright, who taught Father Winter everything he knows?" I asked.

He shook his head no. "No one taught him anything. When Father Winter died, he became the first elder of Frost. He learned everything he needed to know on his own, and after a couple of years, more and more joined him in Frost. Since he was the first to arrive and first to master snow, he took on the name Father Winter. He has been giving the entire world Winter ever since."

"That's right. " I thought back to nine years ago, the day when Father Winter gave me that specific punishment. "Why does he make it so that people can't see or hear you if they don't believe?"

"He does that because he feels that the dead should stay disconnected from the world as much as possible." Fear began to look bored as he said, "I'm surprised with you. Most people ask what happened that caused their deaths, but you don't care about your past life. Well, I won't hold you up anymore, and besides, I'm sure Father Winter's waiting."

"Wait!" I shouted, unable to hide my curiosity. "You know how I died?"

"Of course I do. I also know how your parents died." Fear looked at his shadow being reflected by the moon as he said, "I could tell you if you're interested."

I nodded, stepping closer to him. "How did they die?"

"Father Winter killed them."
