Fawn's P.O.V.
Monsters were everywhere. Eating flesh from the bodies of my loved ones, the scent of decay and blood mixed in the air, making me gag. I try to run. I run as fast as I could to get away from there, but I soon hear something catching up to me fast. It wraps something slimy around my ankle, tripping me. I closed my eyes, not wanting to see the monster that would devour me. It laughs before grabbing my leg and taking a bite out of it.
I screamed, opening my eyes. Sweat covered my forehead as I looked around, taking in the strange surroundings. As the blanket fell, I shivered, pulling it around me as I climbed out of the child sized bed. Deciding to explore, I began to walk around.
There wasn't much in the small house. It had just the basic necessities, a small kitchen, a bathroom, a bed room, and a living area. I noticed a back door by the kitchen, and looked out the small window.
The trees were frozen blue, looking almost like glass, as the frost covered grass prospered even in the winter. A small pond was in the middle of the trees as I noticed a young man walked across the pond, freezing it with every step he took.
"Jack! It has to be Jack Frost!" I shouted excitedly, my breath evaporating in the air. "Be nice, Fawn. Don't scare him off by making him think you're weird."
I opened the door and walked over, causing him to turn around and look at me. He smiled, looking relieved to see me walking up to him.
"Fawn, you're okay. I thought you were going to freeze out there," he said, not bothering to step closer to me. "How do you feel?"
"I feel fine, but am I dreaming? Are you the real Jack Frost?" I asked, questioningly.
He held his arms up as if to take him all in. "I'm the one and only. I can't believe it that you can actually see me."
"What do you mean? Why wouldn't I be able to see you?" I asked, really confused. "I've wanted to see you my whole life."
Jack's smile grew a bit as he said, "Only those who truly believe in me can see and hear me. I've literally been all over the world, and no one can see me. I thought no one would ever be able to, until I found you."
"Umm, Jack? Where are we?" I asked, taking another look at the beautiful scenery.
"This is Frost," he answered. "You can't find it on a map, mostly because it exists no where, but also everywhere. But only the people of Frost can find it. "
"Were you born in Frost?" Jack frowned as he shook his head no. Jumping into the air, he flew off of the pond, his steps dissolving into water, and got closer to me. "Where were you born?"
He thought about it for what seemed like an hour, but in reality, was like two minutes. After coming up with a conclusion, he shrugged and said, "I wasn't born here. No one was. You see, the people of frost are the souls of those who died in the frost. If we died with a special quality, the snow takes pity on us and gives us a second chance."
I noticed right away that he didn't answer my question, and decided to ask again.
"Jack, where were you born? Where did you grow up?"
He shook his head no. "I'm not sure. I don't remember anything when I was just Jack, and even if I could remember, it wouldn't matter anymore. " Jack began to walk away, making me run after him as he walked with ease in the snow.
"I'm sorry for asking. It's just that you're my favorite story character, and I have wanted to meet you since I was a little girl." I thought back to those fragments I had seen back at home, and grabbed a handful of snow.
While he wasn't looking, I threw the snowball at him, hitting him on his back. Jack turned around with surprise on his face. "Did you just hit me with a snow ball?"
"That was for disappearing back then, and this is for leaving snow all those times in my room." I threw another one at him, but this time, he dodged it.
He stared at the ground for a little bit, before raising his head at me with a mischievous smile. "If it's a snowball fight you want, you made a mistake of challenging a child of Frost." He held out his hand as snow appeared and threw it at me, hitting me on my arm.
Our fight lasted about an hour before I realized that I was hungry. Jack seemed to panic a bit, wondering if there was anything he could give me. Eventually, he handed me some red berries.
"These are called frost berries. They only grow here, and they are really sweet." He held some in his hands and tossed them back in his mouth. "This is what we consider sweets. Just don't eat too many, or you'll become addicted."
I bit into one berry, tasting the sweet, frozen juices dance on my tongue. It was deliciously sweet, making me smile. I savored every bit, not realizing that my body began to shiver. I picked up the blanket I had somehow dropped, and wrapped my body in it once again.
Jack stared at me for a second, before frowning. "You better eat that quick. I'm going to have to take you back home soon. Your father won't like it that you met me again."
"I don't want to go home. I want to stay with you here!" I shouted, stomping on the ground like a child. "If I go home, I won't get to see you anymore!"
"I have to take you back, Fawn. Frost is the home to those who have died in the frost. It's too cold for you to stay here."
I shook my head no. "I don't care! I have my coat on, so please, Jack? Just a little while longer?" I begged him. He thought about it, looking back to my face with a troubled look of his own. "Please? For me?"
"I... Fine, how about I show you around Frost first before taking you home?" he said as he gave in. "Is that okay with you?"
Smiling again, I hugged him, thanking him as I did so. There was something about the look on his face that told me he expected something else to happen. He smiled warmly after a few seconds and hugged me back.
