Jack's P.O.V.

I was walking now, no longer trapped in that nightmare. Looking around, I noticed I was standing on a lake, wanting to see what was on the other side. As I walked slowly, I heard the cracking sounds of the ice. It took less than a millisecond for the ice to break under me. I scrambled for the surface as the cold water stung my body. I wanted to get out before I drowned. Luckily, I was able to pull myself out before my body could tire out.

As I made my way back in the direction of home, the light of day disappeared in exchange for night. The weather had dropped, freezing me dry. Snow was everywhere. Erasing any evidence that I was here, including my way back home.

Shivering now, I tried my best to remember the way. As the snow fell harder, I grew colder. My fear was taking over me. Fear of being lost forever. Fear of freezing to death. Fear of dying alone. All three swirled through my mind as I desperately tried to find my way. After what felt like hours, I couldn't make myself walk anymore. I collapsed into the snow, letting it cover my body in an icy blanket.

I can't move. My body is just so cold. My heart feels as if it's slowing down, and ice coats my frozen brown hair. My clothes are hard, and my limbs numb. What happened to me? Am I imagining all of this? Why can't I go back to Frost?

"Momma!" I weakly shouted out, unknowingly. "Momma! Papa! Help me!" Tears started streaming down my face as I scanned the area, hoping someone would hear me. "Please, help me!"

"Jack!" I heard the voice shout out, closer now. "Are you here, Jack?" A torch lit the way for him, showing me just how close the man was. When he turned in my direction, I saw the man's worried face look over me, the fire lighting up his face. "Jack? Everyone, I found him! Somebody call a medic!"

The man ran over to me and gathered me up in his arms, shivering at the touch of my skin. I could feel his warmth through his clothes, making my body hurt even more. "Papa, I-I'm c-cold. It h-hurts." My eyes grew heavy as I tried my best to stay awake. "I'm... Sleepy..."

"Jack, stay with me! Don't close your eyes," he begged, rushing to get me out of the cold. "Please, Jack. Stay with me until we can get you to the medic."

Unable to stay awake, my eyes closed, covering the world in darkness. I thought that was it. I wanted it to be the end of me. Why do I have to feel this pain? Why can't I just let go?

Was I really Jack Frost, or was it all just a dream? Is Fear, Father Winter, Frost, or Fawn even real? What's going to happen to me?

When I regain my senses, I realize that I'm no longer outside surrounded by snow. The smell of freshly baked cake and cookies filled the air, welcoming me home. I tried to open my eyes, but they felt heavy, as if there were bricks holding them down.

"I'm so sorry, but there is nothing more I could do for the boy. Look at him," I felt a hand brush my hair and pick up my arm. "The ice covering his hair is not snow. He had fallen through the ice, but somehow managed to save himself. There's evidence to support that here. Unfortunately, Jack has been exposed to the cold for too long, leaving his body permanently damaged."

"Is there any way at all to save my son?"a woman asked. My heart registered the voice as the voice of a loved one. My mother. "Please, we'll pay anything."

I could hear how upset she was through her voice, meaning that the answer to her question was no. My arm was put back down to my side as a blanket was pulled closer to me.

"I'm afraid this boy is going to feel discomfort until his final hours. It would probably be kinder to put him out of his suffering than to witness it." Hearing my mother's cries, I wanted to sit up and tell her I'm fine. I wanted to make her smile, even if just for a little bit. I don't like being the reason she cries.

Something soft and warm touched my forehead as the smell of roses filled the air. My mother had kissed me. Leaning down to my ear, she whispered, "I'll always love you, Jack. To the moon and back, until the end of time, I will always love you."

"I'm sorry this had to happen to you, Jack. If only we had kept a close eye on you, maybe this wouldn't have happened." I felt a tear fall on my cheek as I realized what my parents were saying. "I love you, son. Tomorrow, I promise that the three of us will go over to the lake to watch the sunset."

When I opened my eyes, the sun was shining over my face as my father carried me on his back. My mother was walking beside us, a blanket in her hands. It was silent for a long time, until my mother set down the blanket.

"Papa, it still hurts." I was set down on the blanket, wishing that I didn't have to move. "Momma, can we play a game?"

For what seemed like a couple hours to them felt like a lifetime for me. My body was in pain, but I didn't care as long as my parents smiled. Eventually, we sat there in silence as the sun began to set. With each passing second, my eyes began to grow heavy. I blinked, forcing my eyes to stay open. Just then, Father Winter came into view, next to him was Father Time.

"It's time to let go, Jack. You'll see them again soon." Father Time smiled sadly at me as he watched my parents hold me tightly. "We'll make sure of it."

Father Winter stepped closer to me and, in a kind voice, said, "rest now, child. A new adventure has just begun."

Blinking again, I nodded. "I understand it now. Momma. Papa. If I'm going to die, will you guys still smile for me?" They both nodded, taking a hold on my hands. "Good. I want you both to be happy, because I always loved Winter." With that, I couldn't help but close my eyes. My body gave it's final breath as my parents started to cry.

I watched as they wrapped up my body in the blanket and left me there.I remembered that this used to be my favorite place in the world. I would always beg my father to bring me up here to play, especially when none of the other kids wanted to play with me.

Momma? Papa? What happened to you guys after this? Was this my real death? I remember in the story that this was the part where the wind had taken my body and changed my appearance, but is this really how my human life ended?

Yes. I remember everything now. After this, I was taken to Frost where I became Father Winter's child. I looked up to him as he taught me everything I needed to know, but knowing now that he's gone, and through my hands, makes my heart hurt. I finally remembered my past, and now, I have to save my future.
