Chapter 8 •I Like You•

Hayden's POV

"Annie answer me." I said.

"Hayden......"

"Keep going." I told her.

"I was jealous.." She said.

"Of what?" I asked her.

"You and Jayden." She said quietly.

"Why were you jealous?"

"You guys look so close and you have that connection that I thought we did." She said looking down.

"Annie no one could replace you." I said taking her hand.

She looked back at me.

"You promise?"

"I promise." I said with a smile.

She smiled back and we just stared at each other.

"Annie I have to tell you something." I blurted out.

"Yeah?"

"Uhhh I li-" I got cut off by Annie's dad opening the door.

"Hayden your dad is here." He said looking at me.

I nodded and he looked down at my hand. I got confused and looked down at my hand. I was still holding Annie's hand. I quickly let go and got up.

"Bye Annie. See ya on Monday." I quickly said and ran out of their house.

Annie's POV

Hayden left and my dad is still in my room.

"Do you need anything?" I asked him.

"I need answers." He answered.

"Answers for what?"

"I saw you two holding hands." He said crossing his arms.

"Uhh about that...." I started.

"Don't worry. I'm cool with it." He said.

"You are?" I'm surprised.

"Yeah. Your mom might not be though."

"Please don't tell her." I begged.

"Fine. But you need to tell her about your boyfriend soon." He said.

"We're not dating dad." I said.

"Still goals though." He mumbled under his breath.

"Pardon me?" I didn't hear him.

"Nothing." He said leaving my room.

"Okay?" I grabbed my computer and my school bag and did my homework.

I woke up bright and early for school. I woke up Caleb, my mom, and my dad. I didn't wake up Hayley bc she wasn't going to school today.

It was lunch and we were all sitting down at our table.

"Psst Annie." Hayden whispered.

"Yeah?" I said.

"What did your dad say about...you know." He answered.

"Well of course he was saying how we were dating and stuff." I said a little too loud because all eyes turned to us.

"You two are dating?!" The squad screamed.

The whole cafeteria went silent and everyone started whispering.

"We're not dating!" We both whispered screamed.

"Aww man!" Johnny said.

"Great the whole cafeteria just heard that." I snapped.

"It's okay I got this, Anns." Hayden got up on the table.

"ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS. ANNIE LEBLANC AND I ARE NOT DATING. I REPEAT WE ARE NOT DATING. THANK YOU." He yelled and sat back down.

"You're a life saver." I said sighing.

He smiled and ate his sandwich.

Hayden's POV

I was walking with Jayden down the hallway. We were walking to the bus stop.

''So did you tell her yet?'' Jayden asked.

''Tell who what?'' I asked confused.

''Annie.''

''Tell her what exactly?'' I was so confused.

''How you like her.'' She said.

''Well I tried to tell her on Saturday but her dad interrupted us." I explained.

She nodded and we kept on walking. She suddenly stopped and looked at me.

"Hayden I need to tell you something." She said nervously.

"Yeah?"

"I- uh I don't know how to say this." She looked down.

"It's okay. Just say it." I said trying to make it easier for her.

"I like you." She responded.
