The rain pitter pats against the window as my Dad drives me to school that morning, my new school The Academy. I went to an academy once when I was little and it was terrible. I was bullied every day, I couldn't understand what we were learning because the teachers were terrible at teaching, I swore I would never go to any type of private school again but here I am leaning my head up against the car window as my dad hydroplanes down the road on my way to my new school.

You've got your schedule right?" Dad asks

"Yeah, I answered intentionally trying to be short with him.

"All your luggage?" he pleaded.

"Yes dad" I snapped not wanting to be bothered right now.

The car stopped I heard my dad sigh from the driver's seat.

"Sweetie I'm doing this because it's good for you, you were excelling too quickly at the last school. This will look good on your college applications." Then he tapped my shoulder. I sighed in frustration and turned to look at him giving him the bluntest look I'd ever given a person.

"I know you don't like private schools but please just try to adapt for me. I only want the best for you."

I watched him. He gave me a knowing look though there was desperation in his eyes, I tried to resist but I just couldn't. he was my dad. He's done so much for me already. The least I could do was grin and bear it for him. So I let out a breath and opened the car door.

"Alright dad, fine I love you," I said to him.

He surprised me by pulling me back into him by my arm and hugging me." I love you too, email me later once you've settled in or call."

I nodded at him, then pulled my hood up as I stepped into the rainy weather almost slipping, I walked to the trunk of the car and then knocked on the back window to let my dad know to open it. It popped open and I grabbed my duffle bag and my backpack I throw one strap of the bag on my shoulder and used my other shoulder to carry my duffle bag, Then I rushed up to the doors through the rain. I would have said goodbye to my dad but the rain was just too freezing cold. I'd contact him later.

I took a deep breath, swallowed the lump of anxiety that was stuck in my throat and jogged to the front door,

"What did you say your name was?" the hard of hearing secretary asked leaning over the counter. I sighed I was beginning to get impatient.

"Caitlyn Ivory Young" I answered giving her my full name this time and tapping my fingers against my chin impatiently.

She nodded and it took a few minutes but when she finally handed over my room key. I let out a sigh in relief. She pushed a blue planner over to me and I took it more than a little grateful to get the hell out of that office,

"Your dorm is on the other side if the campus. They should be a map in the back of your planner" the secretary advised.

"Thank'" I replied.

I walked out if there as fast as I could that office was so depressing. I hope the rest of the school wasn't the same way. Really as I walked through the halls and towards the main door I started to realize that this school well looked like a school. There was nothing abnormal about it. There were trophy cases and posters. The only thing that I found weird about it was that it was a little darker and older looking than other schools.

I've only seen one hallway so far, but it's enough to give me an odd vibe about this place, the lighting was different, there were wooden chandeliers hanging from the ceiling but there were no light bulbs with these chandlers. Oh no they were lit by candles.

Chains held the chandeliers to the ceiling. The walls were brick but they were painted thinly with black paint and the floors they weren't tile. They were wooden and a red rug stretched all the way to the other end of the hall. This school needed an update I feel like I just time travelled to the 1300's everything was medieval looking. So dark ages. It made shivers crawl up my spine.

I tried not to think about it too much as I stepped out into the rain putting my hood up over my black hair again.
