Aaron's attitude had completely changed overnight. Now instead of storming out of the classroom and getting as far away from me as possible, he actually walked by my side with me to the cafeteria. I'm not sure what had come over him. I mean he wasn't exactly being,,,,nice. He was just being protective over me for no reason. Whenever someone would pass us in the hallway if they looked at me Aaron would stare them down. I actually found it kind of irrating. I'm not one of those girls that enjoys it when a guy stakes his clain on me and shields me from the world. I can handle myself. I've never needed a guy to keep me in line, because I've always been able to do it myself.
I'm not sure what I would rather have; Aaron despising me or Aaron getting possessive over me.
Right when we were about to enter the arched doorways of the cafeteria Aaron grabbed my wrist and pulled me to the side. It seemed as if he pushed the doors leading to the staircase open with ease, even though they had been to heavy. I tired to break away and turn into the cafeteria, but Aaron had me. the doors behind us creacked shut. We were alone, next to the stone stairs leading up to the second floor. The only light in the room was coming from the arched windows that followed the large spiral staircase up. I could see dust floating through the air in the light and coming to rest against the stone walls.
It was silent
"Listen," Aaron commanded. He rested his fingers on my cheek and gently turned my face towards his. His touch made my skin prickle. "Tell me the truth are you planning to ignore Vernea's warnings and go with Cass tonight.?"
I shook my head too tired to agrue about Aaron's nosiness.
"No" I lied.
That wasn't enough for Aaron. He raised his brow at me. the deeper his gaze sank into mine, the harder I found it to lie to him. The tip of my ears were burning and my cheeks getting warm. Why did that onlu happen with him?
"Caitlyn," he pleaded.he said nothing else. When he said my name. it was very stern.
"What? I'm not! And even if I was you, couldn't stop me." I barked trying to sound superior even though my voice and size compared to his was equivilant to that of a mouse.
Aaron sighed. Lines began to form on his forehead as he raised his brows. I'd never seen Aaron so concerned about something before. Hell I'd never seen him concerned about me so much before. I studied him.the single white streak in his hair was out in the open again.
Aaron was worried about me and to be honest, I was worried about him too. I could tell by the look on his face that he'd stressed himself out. His complexion was usually impeccable.today however bags were under his waterline and a darkness had settled over his silver eyes. That gold ring around his pupil still seemed to glow. Seeing him worry about him. I don't know why he was suddenly so concerned but I didn't like seeing him this way.
When he was hurting so was I
Not out of free will I suddenly found myself reaching my hand up to the side of his head and running two of my fingers through his white streakgently. His hair was soft and thick and dark and perfect. I felt him shiver and heard his shaky breath.
"Don't worry about me." My voice was lower softer maybe even a little strained.
We got closer to each other. I don't think either of us intended it. We were within whispering distance now.
"Don't go"
He pressed his forehead against mine and took my hands squeezing them and pleading with me more. I let my hands slip from his. So tempting to get caught up in this moment that I've been secretly been waiting for since I first laid eyes on Aaron.... So tempting to let go of my responsibilities even if it was just for a second I walked backwards towards the door.
"I have to. It's lunch and-"
"No. Don't go with Cass." Aaron begged. I half expected him to fall to his knees but he just stood there his arms hanging loosely at his sides.
For a second his stare weakened me. I even thought of giving in a few times. But I'm not the kind of person to let anyone control me not even Aaron. As I walked out the doors I was completely honest wirh him.
"I'm not making any promisises. This is my choice. Leave me to it."
Aaron again avoided my table. He entered the cafeteria and sat down a few tables away about ten minutes after I'd left him alone. God knows what he'd been doing that entire time. But no matter what happened between us he sat alone. He wouldn't even look up at me.
He just looked really disturbed.
"So Caitlyn," Daniel began distracting me away from Aaron. He folding hos muscular arms onto the table and raised a single brow at me."Any plans for tonight?"
I knew exactly what he was dong and the rest of the group was probably in it too. Even though a lot of them were face down in their plates of spaghetti and salad and bowls of soup. I knew they were all listening especially Vernea. Claire slurped her minestrone down with ease, they never served average school cafeteria food here. It was always something classy.
I sighed and rested my cheek in my hand. I was tierd of getting questions like this from everyone and I was feeling a little too rattled to eat, even though everything smelled delicious.
"Is there a problem?" Vernea was starting to get nosey just like Daniel.
"Guys leave Caitlyn alone.I'll hander it later altight? Geez." Claire groaned rolling her eyes.
"We're worried too Claire." Thorne barked.
Finally I couldn't take it anymore. Theire voices were starting to spin around in my head along witH Aaron's words from earlier. A powerful migrane had begun to settle in. I jumped up from my seat.
"How about you guys just worry about yourselves for once?" I exclaimed.
Then I retreated from the cafeteria as they all stared at me with their unnaturally colored eyes. Before I thought everyones eyes were strange and maybe even a little cool.
Now they were tiring to look at. Along with the rest of the world around me.
