"Hey," Claire said as I shut the door behind me. she got up off her bed and walked over to me. she was holding an envolpe. "Pretty boy left this for you."
Red down at the envolpe. I'd just seen Cass. He was still at the diner. This had to be from Aaron. I sighed.everyone wrote notes here. No texts. But Aaron in particular is touchy about direct communication. Or maybe he just doesn't want to see me. I wouldn't be surprised. He seems to want nothing to do with me.
I still don't know about our fencing sessions,
Quickly I tore open the envolpe and read the curvise writing
Caitlyn~
I would like to talk to you later. Meet me at the Libaray at 2

I sighed. He was so shady about everything but so was everyone around me. Verna with her warnings. Cass with his cocky yet oh so mysterious attitude. I was tired of all the smoke and mirrors. Even Claire seems like she's hiding something at times. And Daniel is just a jerk. I feel like I'm the only one that can keep their head on straight around here.
"Something bothering you?" Claire asks pulling a strand of her hair out of her black lipstick.
I look up from the note. She lays back on her bed filing her nails. I hadn't realized that she had goth music playing through her ihome until now. It sounded like H.I,M I wasn't sure. I'm not really into goth music too much but I know the basics.
I shrugged and plopped down on my bed.
"Everyone is just confusing me. Verna was trying to warn me about something. She kept saying that someone is trying to protect me, but she wouldn't tell me who was protecting me from what. I'm just really frazzled." I spilled leaning against the headboard.
She sat up a little and smoothed down her Gothic Lolita dress then tossed her nail file onto the dresser.
"Wait tell me more about what Verna told you." She pleaded looking desperate.
I raised a brow at her."You're not going to get all weird with me now are you?" I groaned. I already had a headache.
Claire scoffed. "If you hadn't noticed sweetie, I'm a huge bucket of weird. Now spill." She remarked.
Great that wasn't the answer I'd been looking for but at least it wasn't anything mysterious or secretive. Even though Claire did jump the bandwagon with the rest of the group, she had a laidback attitude about her that made me feel more comfortable around her than I did with anyone else here. So I did exactly what she told me to do. I spilled.
"Well Verna kept talking about how some secrets are made to be kept for good reasons and then she began talking about how certain people do certain things to keep me safe, no matter how extreme those things maybe. When I asked her who would do such a thing she just dismissed the subject. Another thing is.... She really hates Cass I think all of you do and whenever I ask why none of you tell me. I would just like to be more apricated around here. I went to fit in with you guys. I want to be real friends. You shouldn't have to keep secrets from me. I'm not a little kid anymore."by the time I finished I was out of breath.
Claire nodded/ "Listen I know how you are. I might have only known you for so long but I can read people pretty well. I know you think you can take care of yourself and I'm not saying you can't but some mountains are just too tall for you to climb, Caitlyn. Understand?" she explained.
I sighed. "I know you wouldn't understand." I groaned then buried my face in my pillow.
"Oh by the way." Claire chimed already changing the subject. "Kieran came by here earlier. He wanted to talk to you and he told me to tell you to meet him in the fencing room later on. I think he said to be there at 8pm."
My head was already exploding. On top of all of the strange things that have been happening lately, I have to meet with my teacher? What did I do wrong now? I was so done with everything. I'd been looking for a break this weekend. A little time away from everything. Hell I haven't even chosen a song to dance to on Friday for Dance Class! I complety forgot about it until now. My life is a mess.
Everything has changed so much in a matter of a few days.
"So...what did Aaron say?" Claire asked nodding towards the note that I was still clutching in my hand.
I looked down at it and unfolded it then handed it over to her.
"See for yourself." I suggested
She took the note from me uncrumpled it and then began reading it. Once she was finished, she looked back up at me.
"So you going to meet him?" she asked.
I shrugged. "I'm not really sure. Lately I haven't been able to figure out what the hell he wants from me if anything. He's kust so shady and confusing...." I babbled. "Does he act that way around you guys?"
Claire shook her head,
"No, he's just really quiet. And he's always busy with something. Sometimes we go weeks without seeing any trace of him. But it's normal for him. You shouldn't really worry about it. I'm sure he has a good reason for acting that way."Claire explained, then glared at me. it was as if she was commanding me to not worry or think about it, without actually coming out and saying it directly. Her gaze said it all. I gulped.
"Right.,,," I mumbled looking for any excuse to leave the room.
I needed a walk. Claire was starting to scare me. the way she enunciated things. I took the note from her then shoved it inside my backpack and threw one strap of it over my shoulder. I slipped on my Vans and then checked my reflection in the mirror.
"Where are you going? I thought you didn't have ti meet Aaron until 2" Claire asked cocking her head to the side.
I tied my black curly hair into a side ponytail and zipped up my hoddie.
"I'm just going for a walk." I replied then quicjky shuffled my way out of the door before Claire could stop me."See ya"
