I shoot up in my bed and frantically look around. Our room looks exactly the same as when we went to bed. There isn't much light shine through the windows of our first floor apartment, so it must still be morning.
The bed immediately shifts next to me and my boyfriend of 7 years is right next to me. Zander immediately wraps his arms around me.
"Hey, shhh, baby, shhh, it's okay. That was just the garbage truck down the street." Zander hushes me down.
"Bad dream," I explain through exasperated breathes. Tears start to fall down my face.
"It was just a nightmare. It wasn't real. I'm here," Zander . I start balling into his chest.
"It felt so real," I say through sobs.
"I know, but I'm here now. Do you want some water?" He starts to get up but I pull back to me.
"Please, I don't want you to go," I whisper.
"Woah, must have been a bad one, huh?" Zander lies down and snuggles into me. He starts to kiss me from the top of my head down to my chin, not missing a single spot. I start to giggle when he makes his way down my neck.
"Stop," I smile as his breathe tickles my skin.
"But this always makes you feel better," He laughs and looks at me. He places his forehead on mine. "I love you," He whispers.
"I love you, too," I say back. He smiles at me.
"Are you okay, now?" He asks. I nod. "Good," He says as he lifts his head and rolls off me. "Because I don't want to get acne from you dirt and sweat embedded forehead,"
I silently gasp and turn towards him. "Your so mean," I tell him.
"And, your so cute," He replies. "We make the perfect couple." I let out a small laugh and he pulls me closer to him. We cuddle like that for the rest of the early morning.
I can't help but smile and think of what fantasy world I'm gonna dream about next.
