mark sighed as he was woken up by the barking of waffle, again. mark will never seem to understand how donghyuck can sleep through it; he wishes he could.
"yea, yea, i'm coming," mark mumbled, slowly getting out of bed. it wasn't until he was halfway down the stairs that he knew the reason why he was barking. someone was at the door.
"why the hell would anyone be here at this time," mark nearly cursed, but he put his hand over his mouth before he could do so. he slowly walked up to the door, unlocked it, and opened it.
"mark, sorry to bother," taeyong chirped, letting himself in. mark stared out the door for a second or two, then closed it. taeyong took off his shoes, placing them neatly on the floor.
"why are you here," mark asked, running his fingers through his hair. it was 6:30 in the morning, but taeyong already looked ready to take on the day.
"oh yea, about that. so you know how jaehyun's birthday is coming up? i was wondering if you wanted to help plan a surprise party," taeyong explained, slightly bouncing up and down like a puppy. mark groaned; he woke up for this?
"you come here at nearly 7 in the morning just to ask me this," mark asked, looking down at waffle, who's tail was whipping side to side.
"so is that a yes," taeyong almost ignored the question, a slight look of guilt on his face. mark sighed, once again, but nodded nonetheless.
"thank you. i'm genuinely sorry for bothering you. honestly," taeyong whispered as he hugged mark, a smile on his face. mark rolled his eyes, but smiled back.
"i'm just paying you back," mark said, noticing how taeyong's grip got slightly tighter.
"thank you," taeyong said once again, before he went to put his shoes back on.
"no, stay. there's no need for you to leave," mark insisted. who knows how long taeyong was up, and there was honestly no point in him to leave. well, mark didn't see a point.
"you sure? what about hyuck," taeyong asked, jerking his head to the staircase. mark shrugged.
"he can sleep through waffle's barking. i think you'll be just fine. make yourself comfortable, i'm going to go change," mark smiled as he started to walk up the stairs.
"sorry to wake you again," taeyong said, causing mark to turn around. mark just shook his head, his way of saying everything was fine. he headed back to their room, trying to find his way around in the dark. he grabbed hold of donghyuck's shirt, and a random pair of shorts.
"gosh, taeyong, you nerd," mark mumbled as he walked out of the room once he was changed, closing the door behind him. both of them learned to close the door, or everything would have chew marks on it.
"taeyong? i'm back. do you want a soda or something," mark said as he went into the kitchen, waiting for taeyong's response.
"yea, can i," taeyong responded, the voices on the television screen in the background. it was oddly soothing to mark. and it made him feel accomplished. he owns a house and a dog, and he's going to get married soon.
that made him put the glass down and take a deep breath. he's going to be married soon. never in a million years would he have thought that. but, he was getting married to the best person, and donghyuck's family loves him, so everything works out.
"mark, you okay," taeyong asked, looking into the kitchen from the couch. mark nodded, going back to his senses. he poured the soda in the glass, then walked over to taeyong. making sure he doesn't spill it, he handed the glass over to the older male.
"you sure you're okay," taeyong asked once again. he has always been a little protective over mark, just because mark seemed so small. he always felt the need to watch over him and the others as well.
"yea. just overwhelmed," mark admitted, head hitting the back of the couch, a long sigh coming from him. taeyong turned his body to face mark, the soda resting on the coffee table.
"about," taeyong urged, wondering how he will help mark out. even if it's just a simple thing, he wants to help the younger out.
"just, the wedding and all," mark said, not looking at taeyong. he kept his gaze on the ceiling, trying to sort through his thoughts right there on the spot.
"do you no-," taeyong was cut off by mark, who suddenly was defensive.
"no, i want to. it's just the fact that i'm going to is what's overwhelming. i love him, a lot. a whole lot. but i'm doing something i never thought i'd ever do," mark finally said, looking over at taeyong, who had a small smile on his face.
"that's understandable. but you're going to do great, mark, i know it. you're already doing amazingly. just keep that up. and donghyuck knows all your flaws, your weaknesses. don't be afraid to show those around him. he's the one person you can be vulnerable to," taeyong finished, taking a sip of the soda, then turning back to face the television.
mark thought about that, taeyong's words swarming around in his head. it was true. donghyuck knows everything about him. his weaknesses, his flaws, his vulnerablities, everything. and he has to let donghyuck be there for him. he has to care for himself as much as donghyuck cares for him. and if he lives like that, then everything will be okay.
