"don't you think we're ordering a cake too early? we don't even have a set in stone date yet," mark asked donghyuck as they arrived at the bakery. donghyuck shrugged, opening the door and signalling for mark to go in first.
"we're getting married this summer, and that's coming up. better to have the cake now," donghyuck stated as he pecked mark quickly. mark was confused for a second, but then followed donghyuck to the counter.
"hello, how may i help you two," a young lady asked, a bright smile on her face.
"hello, joy. we're here to order a cake," donghyuck happily said as joy typed some stuff on the computer. joy was this tall, slender girl with a lovely smile and a cute face.
"sure, what kind," joy asked, looking between mark and donghyuck. mark looked at donghyuck confused; they never talked about a cake.
"can we get a layered marble cake," donghyuck asked, smiling sweetly over at mark. all mark did was glare then he looked away. joy nodded her head, then typed some more on the computer.
"you two getting married," she asked, jerking her head over to where mark was. donghyuck nodded, turning his head to look over at mark.
"congratulations, he's a cutie," joy smiled brightly, and donghyuck couldn't help but smile as well. sure, he didn't discuss the cake with mark, but donghyuck wanted to do something for mark for once.
"would you like to pay now, or when you pick up the cake," joy asked, looking up at donghyuck. the younger thought for a second, wondering which one was the best choice.
"when i pick it up, if that works," donghyuck stated, looking at joy thankfully. joy nodded, tapping the screen of the computer a few times.
"we'll see you then. oh, wait, what's the order under," joy asked, taking out a pen and paper.
"lee donghyuck," donghyuck responded, his heart skipping a beat for some reason.
"okay, that's it. i wish you two the best. congratulations again," joy smiled before she turned around and headed to the back. donghyuck watched her go, turning around once she was gone. he walked up to mark and grabbed his hand, interlacing their fingers together.
"why didn't you talk to me about the cake," mark asked, hands tightening against donghyuck's.
"i wanted to do something for you for once. i know you're stressed about this, so i wanted to help take off some of it," donghyuck smiled, looking over at mark. the look on mark's face made donghyuck chuckl.e, and he couldn't help but kiss mark gently.
"i love you," mark sighed, resting his forehead against donghyuck's. donghyuck smiled, kissing mark's nose softly.
"i love you, too," donghyuck whispered as he lead the elder out of the bakery.
"do you have a certain place in mind to host the party," mark asked as they walked around town. donghyuck thought it for a minute, but nothing really came to mind.
"not really. how about you," he asked mark, hoping the older male would have an idea of some sort.
"i was thinking the arcade we went to before we starting dating," mark stated, which made donghyuck mentally slap himself. of course, that was the best place to go. although not really mature of them, they still wanted to have a place that's fun for their friends.
"that's such a good idea," donghyuck smiled, tightening his grip slightly. he remembers that day like it was yesterday. when mark was under pressure, and that was when he knew he needed to protect mark.
doing little things like he just did really helps relieve mark of the stress he has in his life. if it wasn't for donghyuck, mark probably would've already cracked under the pressure. but donghyuck is there to catch mark when he falls. that's been donghyuck's purpose this whole time.
