MUCH-NEEDED PROTECTION
"I still think this is so unnecessary," Padmé said with a groan from the back seat while I was piloting the ship.
"Oh, because an assassination threat surely doesn't mean anything," I said with a slight smirk while I heard Padmé just let out another groan.
"I hate long journeys, especially in these tiny ships," she said with a miserable sigh that I couldn't help but giggle at her childish behavior.
"They aren't that bad," I said in a light tone trying to remain optimistic.
"At least you have something to do," she moaned and I could hear her shuffling around in the back.
This was my seventh mission accompanying Padmé. She was no longer the Queen of Naboo but instead became a Senator. At the conclusion of her two terms as queen, she rightfully stepped aside for her elected successor. However, the Naboo people had grown so fond of her that there was widespread talk that the constitution should be amended to allow her another term. After the new queen's coronation, which I was allowed to attend thanks to Padmé since she requested the need for "protection," the Queen asked Padmé to serve as Naboo's representative in the Galactic Senate to which Padmé ultimately accepted.
The former Jedi Count Dooku became the public face of a Confederacy of Independent Systems that had withdrawn from the Republic in opposition to the corruption they believed had enveloped the Senate. In response to the threat posed by this Separatist Alliance, the Republic Senate debated the proposed Military Creation Act that would allow Supreme Chancellor Palpatine to formally commission a Grand Army of the Republic. During this time, Padmé had become a member of the Chancellor's Loyalist Committee and was regarded as the leader of the opposition to the Military Creation Act.
Padmé was now returning to Coruscant because it was the eve of the vote in the Senate of the Military Creation Act which Padmé had been so insistent on attending. Master Yoda and Master Windu then assigned me to accompany Padmé just in case because there had been several threats on her life. Of course, Padmé reiterated that she was perfectly fine but I accompanied her nonetheless.
I was now nineteen-years-old, nineteen! It was crazy to think that I had been in the Jedi Temple and hadn't even seen my brother in ten years. I still blew my mind whenever I thought about it. My outfits had shifted to more gray tones. I didn't like wearing brown or white all the time and I didn't like black necessarily so I stuck with gray.
Padmé always liked to tell me what a beautiful woman I had become even though whenever I told her that she would tell me to shut up. I no longer had my signature blonde hair, but I officially had long light brown hair that when it was down stretched all the way down to my elbows. I still kept my hair up in its trademark braided crown since I still had my Padawan braid which stretched down below my chest now. Just as Master Yoda promised too, I had grown much taller and was now 5'6. I still had tan skin though like I did on Tatooine but it was more fair considering I had been living on Coruscant for ten years instead of under the sun 24/7 like I used to.
